I have a 21 tacoma offroad. Non JBL head unit. The issue I have is when using my ipod, or a USB stick. When I first plugged either in I could browse songs, artists whatever way I wanted to find a song. Now when I try to use any browse features like artist, albums, songs. It wont let me. It just starts playing the very first song alphabetically on the device.

Is this a software problem or something wrong with the head unit or what?

    Thank you

It can play all the songs. I just cant go and pick the song I want.

I can skip forward and backwards. But not go pick this song by this artist in the browse function

How is the USB stick formatted? Needs to be FAT32. You can find formatting programs online, as Windows doesn’t format that for anything larger than 8gb I believe.

Would it still play the songs if the format was the issue?

If the stick is formatted exFAT, it might. But the file structure might be different enough that it can only go from one file to the next, not folders.

In the beginning I could sort through the files and folders though, that's what's making me think it isn't the format

Maybe as simple as resetting the stereo, clear the cache memory. Pull the neg battery cable for 10 min. That should reset it. But it will reset trip odo, clock, all that stuff too.

I was thinking of trying a soft reset. I believe, key on, let entune start, press and hold pwr/vol for 12 seconds.

Might work. I think that’s a simple reboot though. Pulling the neg is a reset.

Browsing is locked out while you are in motion. You’ll have to get used to using the voice assistant.
