Yeah, if it’s a machined hole it’s not meant to be plugged for sure. Had a guy one time who put threaded pipe plugs on his boiler gas pressure regs. Needless to say they never worked right.

What's the best place to try selling a riding mower?
Also, how do you decide on an asking price? I looked up listings on a few sites and prices are all over the place.

    It's a 2011 John Deere X500 w/ 48" deck and the Kawasaki engine.

I've upgraded to a bigger machine with a loader. Don't need 2 mowers parked here now.

I check Face Book market place to see what comparable units are listed at.

If you get offered 75% what others are listing theirs for, you should be pleased.

You can always list high and come down after a week or so.

Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace and yes, prices are all over the place.
Hold on to it until the start of mowing season, demand pops up when the grass gets high.

Are there any new or newish mowers that can compare to the old tank yard tractors without spending $10k?

For instance, I like the features of the JD X350s or CC XT2's. But the little k46 and even k58 transaxles can barely pull 600lbs, that's my 4x8 trailer, empty.

I'd love something that I can get around the yard to pick up limbs and debris or move mulch or other material but these new mowers are just fancy mowers, no utility grunt.

Not like the old 317 or cadets.

A compact tractor is out of my price range. So I am probably asking a fancy lawn mower to do too much.

I dont think it could have been a relief hole, it pissed fuel all over. As I was cleaning and scraping off the JD green paint the hole got bigger. I think it was from erosion from inside. Maybe from a flaw in the casting originally. Somewhere there would have been high pressure diesel fuel in that canister.

The hole must have been weeping first, then got bigger. When I first got it in my hands the hole was the size of a pin head. By the time the JBweld was on it the hole was almost wooden match stick head sized.

The best deal on a new light GT is the Cub XT2 GX54D. It has a steel cut gear(vs powder gear) K62 transaxle with a diff lock and costs <$4400.

    https://www.cubcadet.com/en_US/lawn-and-garden-tractors/xt2-gx54-d/14AQA6TMA10.html#start=3

The next step up is the XT3 which is $5100GS-$6100GSX without the deck. It has a medium/heavy duty shaft drive BDU-10L transaxle that will plow, pull a box blade and do whatever you need (I own an XT3)

Contacted another friend who works at another Deere place and he just called me. He said that is a European tractor and it's called "thermostart aide" and American tractors did not have it. He had no other information on it and said he's never seen one. He found it on their computer parts system.

Awesome! Thank you for the leads.

I had actually looked at the GX54D but totally overlooked the K62. Looking at so many models, everything gets blurry.

This is a serious rabbit hole!

    XT3, X570, 1025R
    Big, bigger, biggest

$4,500 New XT3 looks like it has great value and features, meets minimum requirements
$9,000 New X570 w/ addons has a K72 and factory attachments like front loader/blade, box blade, etc but is it trying to make a mower into a tractor?
$15,000 Used 1025r with loader and mower is ultra capable but also sometimes too big for mower work but great for loader and 3pt/pto work. Is this trying to make a tractor into a mower?

Then the question, can I get it on a trailer big enough to hold it yet small enough to tow behind my 2.7 Tacoma. <3,500lbs

    I need to stop... :smash:

short answer is no if you do the 1025r. properly equipped with FEL and rear ballast put you over 2k lbs. its amazing how easily the weight goes up with fluids and proper gear. Add in the trailer and you're in the danger zone. a 16' is about as small you can fit a 1 series on and that's tight.
