You are correct, air impact is what I meant. I saw mention of a 174 ft/lbs torque spec but my mechanic buddy just said hold the trigger and ugga-dugga until the 35mm socket stops moving.

Yeah I started off trying to hit them with sand paper and a wire wheel but quickly realized that was futile. I took them to a local place who I believe used peanut shells? Anyway $75 bucks well spent to save me probably dozens of hours and a far worse result.

Check out these Supra seats I just picked up. In the past I’ve just welded new feet onto the new seats rails. Surely this is the best/cleanest method?

I cut the mounting feet off an old set of Tacoma seats and welded them onto the rails of my Subaru seats.

Same thing I’ve done in the past. I guess that’s gonna be my best bet. I’m running some Mazda seats currently that I swapped with the same technique. Can’t stand having Mazda in my truck though.

I Might get lucky enough that the entire bottom rail section could be swapped since it’s Toyota to Toyota. There’s a small chance I suppose. I doubt it’ll be that easy though, especially on the motorized side.

Makes me wonder if you can over tighten the axle nut and cause damage to the bearing

I’m not sure if this has been asked before, but I haven’t found it through the search bar on here. What can be done with the rear parking brake cable on my 98 after installing 1 1/2” blocks? The cables are stretched over the leaf springs now. Is there a kit that will lift them up over the springs? Thanks in advance!

What aftermarket thermometers do you guys use on our trucks? I’m more interested for just outside temp but I might be interested in the ones for oil temps if they’re easy install too.

Here's how I went about the same thing with the same wheels. Sandblasting is your best bet, for sure.

Wheel Makeover – Extreme Labor for a Totally Non-Functional Mod

You can make a couple little extensions out of some 1" angle. I've made a few sets for various folks, and they work well. I don't have a picture of them installed, but I'm sure I wasn't the first to use this design, so hopefully someone else has a pic (Mike @Digiratus ?). Essentially, one of the two holes on the bracket gets bolted to the existing hole where the cable attaches, and then the cable attaches to the other hole of the bracket, with the bracket tab providing leverage. That's a weird explanation, but it's pretty simple once you get it in place.

Thanks for the sharing your write up. I'm convinced I just need to get them sandblasted. I may look into getting a sand blaster since I plan on taking the bed off this summer and coating the frame. Has the duplicolor held up well? Your prep was on point so I wouldn't be surprised if it was holding up well.

Paint has held up fantastically. Better than I hoped. Of course, plenty of rock rash has thrashed the wheels since I did this, but even at those points, the paint isn't chipping off beyond the actual rash.
