Fun story, I got pulled over a few years ago when my truck was still pretty new and stock for having no mud flaps from the factory. I explained the truck wasn’t lifted and the only change was taller tires. I was told that if any modifications, including tires, that change the height of the vehicle, require you by law to have mud flaps in AZ. I bought a set that week.

That seems bogus. Any tire you put on that's not factory would 'change the height of the vehicle'. Is that even a 'modification'?

that is a good story, i guess i never even thought about that little aspect lol the amount of trucks i see with no mudflaps is astonishing tho. The amount of times i should of been pulled over in my v8 with longtubes and no catalytic converters is quite amazing too. just lucky i guess :mudding:

I trimmed my factory ones. They're short but still cover me for the law.

AZ is weird for it though. There are jeeps and other cars with nothing and they get a thumbs up from the cops. You got caught on a bad day, but it is still a law on the books.

It was all a surprise to me. Trimming the flaps might not be a bad idea though.

I trimmed mine just above the 4x4 portion and followed the curves. I've never been questioned and haven't had any issues with them breaking on the trial. It's a start anyways.

I think its beacouse jeeps are classified as a station wagon, not a truck. Mud flaps I believe only pertains to trucks.

thats exactly right. My wife gets hassled for mud flaps on the taco. But my 4runner is a station wagon so no rule about mud flaps.

this is precisely the way I understood it too.

I have never been hassled. I think it’s one of those laws that only exist when:

-your truck is nicer than the po po
-you are a total ass on a traffic stop
-cop wants to flex for whatever reason

If your wife is attractive it’s just an excuse to stop her and get some time w a pretty lady.

Thats what I gice her shit about. I say she is very attractive driving a pretty damn nice modded taco. Cop just wanted to give her a closer look. I re installed the mud flaps for the fix it ticket she got. Kept them on for a few months and took them back off. She hasnt been stopped since. Luckily small town so the cops all know her from her job so they dont hassle much any more. Stop her for speeding every couple weeks and tell her to slow it down but no tickets. knock on wood*

If anyone knows of Dana 60s or Chevy 14 bolts for sale (or hiding out in a neighbors yard etc.) locally let me know. Preferably passenger drop 60(rare I know) and Chevy full floater 14 bolt but Im open to considering any older 8 lug axles. Also 4l60e or 4l80e, NP205 t-case.

Also looking for Chevy fuel injected V8s, willing to consider anything from a 5.3 to an 8.1. I know there are tons of junkyards and dismantlers that sell them on craigslist but you never know what you're getting from them. Will buy an entire V8 4wd truck thats running for under $8000. Gotta be 2000 or newer.

I have removed OEM parts from the recent upgrades to my 2021 Tacoma. All of this stuff came off at 9,152 miles.

Everything in this photo is free for the taking. I'll be throwing it away the fourth of March.

Already claimed: Front grill insert and swaybar end links. Front recovery hook with bolts.
