I am still getting to know my truck, i still dont know the features. I dont even know if rain sensing wipers is a thing for tacomas. I have a ‘22 limited model with tonneau cover as an option. Anyway i can find out what features my car has beyond the window sticker? I am sure i have cool quirks and features, i just dont know what i have and what makes my limited.. a limited model besides the birds eye view camera and leather seats.

Yes, eyes on the road work great. As long as you're not looking at a cell phone.

My '17 Tacoma was my first brand new vehcile. I sat in the driver's seat and read through the owner's manual shortly after bringing the truck home. The OM has a TON of easy to understand info.

    Lol.

Read this directly after discussing with co-workers how low-tech the Tacoma actually is after I mentioned the rear drums.. he asked where the choke lever is located, what size carburetor it has, and if the wipers are manual...

I had a Jeep with rain sensing wipers. Hated the damn things, I just shut it off and never used it. Not to mention the windshield costs a fortune to replace if you ever have to pay out of pocket for one.

A friend's Lexus has them as did my old boss's JGC. Absolutely schizophrenic. I wanted to shut them off from the passenger seat. Ha!

Yup that's what I had them on, a JGC limited. At first there was some entertainment factor in watching them go on turbo speed in a light drizzle but the funny wore off quickly :)

Yes, when I sense rain, I turn on my wipers. Works pretty good:D

Interesting on all of the dislike for rain sensing wipers; I loved the ones on my BMWs. Why? Here in New England at least, it is not at all uncommon to be driving on a day with intermittent rain and/or over intermittent patches of wet pavement where the vehicle in front of you kicks up enough spray to make visibility poor through the windshield; on such days when driving a car without rain sensing wipers, I find I'm constantly fiddling with the wiper controls instead of my primary job, which is driving the freakin' vehicle. In the case of my BMWs, the wipers worked as advertised, get some water or snow on the windshield and the wipers will wipe once. Go into an area of persistent precipitation and/or spray and the wipers automagically go full on, even on high speed as necessary.

In my case, I'll order this feature every chance I get.

It took me a few second each time to come to the conclusion that the wipers weren't broken and functioning as intended in the most distracting manner as possible. Like you said, sometimes warp speed in barely detectable drizzle or not at all for extended periods in a downpour.

If that's how some rain sensing wipers work, then yeah, I get the negative comments, fortunately they can be made to work, and work REALLY well; BMW proved that over 20 years ago as I had them on my 1999 328i and they worked flawlessly.

Same. On my 2021 Highlander Platinum the auto sensing wipers worked an absolute treat. And since it had auto headlights that were tied to the wipers, no need to touch anything on a rainy day. It really was a handy feature.
