George Carlin claims that he (& his buddies) are immune from the commie covid because they swam in the Hudson River.
You know, alongside floating turds & dead rats, etc.

I concur. I swam in the Mekong for years. I won't mention what all I saw floating in it...

I think we learn more about it now yes..but strange stuff. My wife developed a fragrance allergy in her 50s. Not even so much when people use an overpowering scent..just a hint of some things can cause her problems.

Because Huffy. Haha..I relate. Been a rider all my life.

Foil is one old trick. Another is remove the bars, scrape any paint off the clamping surface of bars and gooseneck, and reinstall. I've heard of people using nickels before but that will usually deform them.

Seen a few cracked top tubes at the headtube before as you mentioned.

    Never too late

I used to work at an ad agency in Virginia. I never met him, but my boss had worked with him on a number of commercials in the past. Said he was a really kind, funny, caring person. Was really sad when he passed away.

Perhaps but they were never great, plus the fact that idiots are the ones putting them together at the big box stores

I wished I had taken a shop class (my HS had none) -- learning that stuff would have been waaay more useful than the other stuff I took in HS and college

I couple years ago I was with an ex buying her son a new bicycle. It was already assembled, but we wanted the pedals swapped out and a couple of adjustments. I swear the guy doing the work had never seen a bicycle before. I was about ready to push him out of the way to do the work myself.

I got mine at Kmart. 80 81ish. The one that was white with blue tires. It was a death ride. I once snapped handlebars and had the front wheel come off at same time. It drove the forks into the ground causing me to go ass over tea kettle. It was right in front of all the girls I was trying to impress. I could handle the pain but going to the 1st day of school the next day with a face full of road rash was tough.

My first real bike was back in the early 70s. Dad bought it already assembled at a KMART. First time riding it in a park going down hill the handlebars came off.
I went home pushing my new bike bleeding.

I don't remember, it was on the television, watching in awe.

    You're not incorrect

I'm fortunate to have a local shop if I cannot do something or don't care to, while that's not often. Family business.

Sounds like the X20R I think.

I always checked stuff before buying and at home set it up to my taste. Then again I taught myself at age 4 how to rebuild a coaster brake.

I was a proud Shop kid !!Even though the school tried to force me into the college prep even when I said I was not going to be able to afford college

C and D student in the classes I was bored by.I did just fine in Math and Physics.

I put myself out on Co Op in 11 and 12th grade where I learned far more.

I got a D once. I did something disrespectful to the vice principal.
I didn't mean to. I was just being stupid at the time.
It was tough explaining that to my folks.

Getting out of school and going to work is like that saying about, "everybody has a plan until they get punched in the face."
The working world straightens out our perspective pretty fast in most cases.
