@BrokeKayaker that was my best guess. Hopefully you find somebody else on here with a build week 7 that might have more info, but with a build week 6, things seem to have worked out ok...I would expect your temp VIN would disappear any day now (but wouldn't be surprised it it takes a few more as this has been quite a bizarre ride so far).

Koons sucks when it comes to the unique vehicles. They were marking up Shelby GT350s by $10k back in '16. However I did get a great deal on a custom order GT that came in 6 weeks later...

I thought I would chime in to let you know how I tracked things on my recent 4Runner purchase. This is what I have gleaned from other forums. From what I understand the same type of information is available from your dealer. I chose not to bother him as often since I now have the same info.
    1. My salesman gave me the VIN, build dates, shipping and arrival dates from Japan.
    2. I looked for RORO vessels leaving from the Japanese assembly plant port and arriving in US port (for my area that was Portland,OR) close to the dates from the dealer.
    3. Once I figured out the vessel name, I tracked the ship in route using shipinfo.net
    4. I was able to track status and other info by entering your VIN in the following URL:
    https://guest.dealer.toyota.com/v-spec/PUT YOUR VIN HERE/detail
    5. You can use the developer tools in most browsers to uncover details. In Chrome developer tools are located under: View > developer > developer tools. Refresh the browser. Click on the Fetch/XHR header. Then click on your VIN and you will find eta, status, dealer status, etc.
    6. As I continued to monitor the Chrome browser it validated the vessel since the status changed to from "A" to "F" or freight on the date it arrived in Portland. I am expecting it to go to "G" or ground soon since my eta is 2/26-3/03.
Hope this helps you pass the time as you wait for your vehicle!

My dealer is kinda slow. Basically “I’ll let you know when it comes in.”

Getting my TRD Pro from Family Toyota of Burleson at MSRP + $1095 Dealer add on. I am doing this all remotely since I am out of the country at the moment but the dealer has been great and the process very smooth. I don't know what the dealer add on is at the moment but I am willing to pay it since I couldn't really shop around and search for a better deal. I chose this dealership because the are located about a mile from my house and wanted to support the local area.

My VIN says 06 but it is scheduled for build on March 5 according to the dealer and should be at the dealership a couple of weeks later. I am planning vacation so I can be there to pick it up and drive it for a few weeks while I am there.

Do I get kudos if I'm able to get my TRD OR at anything under MSRP?

My sales guy sent over the estimates for the monthly, and there was a "$500" discount. I asked, "Was that my deposit?" (as I hadn't seen it charged, but I'm sure that'll wash out). He said, "Nope. Since you ordered a TRD Pro, but dropped to the OR, we wanted to treat you well." Given the market, I wasn't even going to consider asking for anything BELOW MSRP...some dealers are actually really good (and in this payment estimate, no tricky add-ons [yet], I know to keep an eye out when the signatures are made...but it's a good start!)

Anybody in the area (Denver or CO in general probably), Mountain States Toyota has been a very positive experience so far, but tomorrow is where the rubber meets the road (too literal?)

Ive mentioned this previously, but if people keep paying above MSRP, then dealers will continue to market adjust the vehicles, simply say no. Unless you are in need of a vehicle, much different than a want.

I agree - although I have to remind myself that my 'need' is really just a 'I REALLY WANT' - it's easy to get caught up in it all.

I worked with Mountain States for a while and they were great on the price (same discount and no dealer fees) but the truck I wanted never seemed to be coming so I found one elsewhere. Paying a little more is worth it to reserve a truck that exists to me
