Alright gang, if I'm not beating my truck like it's in the KoH, can I get away with just some plates on the frame to weld to or do I need to fully plate?

Opinions welcome. I have 2"x2"x8" 1/4" Wall Tube steel and enough 3/16" A36 plate to make 8 4"x4" pads and 8 1"x2" gussets. (if my mental math is right. I lost my design sheet when work tossed my old lunchbox with my notebook)

Also figured @lferrara would want some more opinions on this to help him decide if he needs to redo his or not.

I’m not going to redo mine for a while. It’s going to be a bitch grinding those back off the frame. And honestly I don’t know if I am hardcore enough to hit them hard enough to bend the frame.

 

that's my thoughts too. Let me know if you have any hard hits and see if anything flexed/bent.

 

I know @TacomaDad18 and @JTFisherman welded their sliders right on their frames and haven't had any issues yet

I wanna get out of the ground tent gang without spending RTT or trailer money yet. but then again I also have massive holes in my bed.....

Its either that or I'm gonna buy a double sized cot and a futon mattress. Air beds always deflate in the middle of the night no matter what I do.
