Hello my Taco lovers. It has been some years.... I traded in my 08 Tacoma and went to the old man side and got a brand new f150 thinking that I needed something bigger.... well I will be jumping back into a Taco with a 22 Double Cab SR 4x4 (i am a cheap ass and proud)

    I need help....

I want to go the 6112/5160 Bilstein route (unless there is something cheaper and better?)

I want a 2 inch mini lift that wont affect ride and maybe improve the ride. Not going to go too crazy on tires I believe with a 2in lift I can run TRD wheels with 275/70/r17 right? I want to add a leaf to bump an inch to make sure I do not squat and then I want to add an UCA.

Since I have been out of the game for like 4 years I wanted advice. I am looking for quality but I also want to keep cost as low as possible so just a recap.

Bilstein 6112/5160 2inch lift nay or yay?
What is the top tier cost effective UCA to match?
What Add a Leaf should I do? or is there another option?

Who does the best pricing now days?

Cheers everyone and hopefully this forum isn't dead as f.

Nothing cheaper than the 6112/5160 combo will be better, it's the best performance per dollar currently available.

If you’re a cheap ass and proud,
    -5100s w/some OME coils
    -single AAL, Deaver
-2” lift should not need UCAs
    DONE

You can try without uppers…but if you can’t get good caster numbers you’re gonna have to tear it apart and install them after the fact. I’m at 2” or maybe like 2.25” and the shop that installed my stuff said they wouldn’t have been able to get my alignment right without them. My 2c.

Might as well do it, the way I look at it. IMHO, the Bilsteins setup is a great combo. Throw some UCAs and an AAL in and it's a perfect combo.

6112’s over here. Won’t disappoint IMO. Also if you plan on any weight go
    650LB coils.

If your planning no weight then plan on 600lb springs. Yes I do have weight from sliders and full skid package.

Get the 3 leaf add a leaf set and take the factory overload, bottom, spring out. Otherwise you are on the money my fellow "cheap ass" fixer upper.

I’d do this if you don’t plan on hauling things in your bed. My headstrong 3 lead add a leaf kit started to flatten out. If anything I’d keep the overload spring IMO

I have the Wheeler 3 leaf and I don't know it there is any differences or if they the same leafs sold under different names? Anyway, I first assembled my set with the overload spring on. Well I didn't care for the ride I will say. I took that bottom leaf off and after one trip around the block that suckers went in the trash can. But needs are what they are, Toyota rated my load rating as -4 pounds with out the bottom spring on there. It was a little yellow sticker the placed on the door jamb when I had to take the truck in for the blower fan recall. I think it's some kind of way they have of ID ing modified Tacomas? I peeled the little yellow sticker off and also place that in the trash...

Dang a yellow sticker, that’s why I don’t trust dealers. It’s not like the leafs affected your recall
