If that's the case then replacing the torque converter should take care of the issue. Like I said, I had the same problem and now its gone after the swap.

I literally just went through all of this 2 weeks ago. Shudder in D then hit it into 4 and it went away and it only happened at 25 to 35mph and below 1500rpm. Took it to a local transmission shop and they said it needed a rebuild due to the torque converter and possibly solenoids. Had it done and $2700 later it shifts smooth again. They pretty much replaced most of the transmission components I believe. The good thing is the mechanic I originally took it to has a deal with the transmission shop and I got a discount on parts and labor.

Man I'd hate to say it but that tranny shop ripped you off. Unless you were having shifting problems along with the shudder then a rebuild would be warranted. I thought I needed a complete rebuild myself but after some research I decided to just do the converter for $199 and luckily that's all it needed.

Maybe it didnt but I need my truck to stay reliable for me. I forgot to mention it would make a noticeable jerk and sometimes slight clunk when it would shift from O/D to 5th or 4th.

Edit: I'm near 185k miles so it's not exactly new

Take it back to whoever did the work. Probably a loose connection or they forgot to plug something in.

Wont crank or it will sometimes crank. I’ve gone over everything that I can. In the middle of replacing the starter myself. What a shitty job

I went and bought a whole set of extensions, 3/8" and 1/2" with a slight indent at the connection, it allows for bending, made the process a whole lot easier...

    Converter, working fine?

Converter is working perfectly fine. Super impressed with the shop just wish the temporary LubeGuard fixes would’ve worked. Yup I had the extensions. Ended up using 2 6” a 12” and a 3” extension to get the top bolt off the starter. The first starter I put in was bad out of the box too so bad to do the whole process 2 times. Oh well it is what it is. Learning lots!

Yup, the upper bolt is not friendly, thus the bendable extension parade. Funny you went through two starters, I had the same experience and was not happy, the first one worked but went bad three days later.. Second time around was a whole lot faster.

That’s hilarious. The first one worked fine but squealed every start up. Ended up putting a remanufactured one in and it’s nice and quiet. Time for a general inspection of the truck and then it’s road trip season
