My dealer is similar. The only reason I gave them a deposit is the sales guy sent me a build sheet for an actual Tacoma he said has been allocated to them, with a price on it. He couldn't tell me any more than that, though. I have no idea how far back in line it is. I don't mind waiting if I know I'm waiting for one that is actually going to be built, but it would be nice to know if I'm going to be waiting 3 months or 10.

I did activate it. So not sure why it’s not showing up . It does send a code to put into the head unit but obviously that can’t happen yet. Not a big deal

He should be able to pull up a build sheet with a temporary VIN if he gave you a price. The temporary VIN will have the week it is to be built in the 2 numbers prior to the letter in the last 6 of the temporary VIN (*******12A324). The 12 would indicate the 12th week of the year as a build week.

Still no ETA on mine; the field for isPreSold is "true" so that's good, but the field for holdstatus is "dealerhold"

That seems a bit odd, anybody know what that means?

Just got a text stating that my ETA is 3/18 to 3/23

Then I checked the developer tools and sure enough that line has been updated:
    eta: {currFromDate: "2022-03-18", currToDate: "2022-03-23"}

So another month of waiting :(

I did get a build sheet, but it does not have a temporary VIN listed on it. I'll ask about that. Thanks for the tip.

Hmmm, I don't see fields for currFromDate or currToDate...

Oh, I see, they would be in the eta field...

Put down a deposit for allocation on a TRD Sport 4x4 v6 Magnetic Gray with the premium sport package(leather, full LED headlights, etc.) on 2/22/22. Dealer told me 3-4 months likely closer to the 4 month timeline. Come to find out my uncle knows owner of dealership and sales manager at dealership. He talked to them and they moved me to "top of group 2" for allocations. They apparently use a 3 group system at this dealership: group 1 gets first dibs, group 2 gets any rejects from group 1, and group 3 are new orders.

Has anyone that stayed on top of their salesperson dealt with this "group" system? Any insight on what a new timeline would be getting that boost? Don't want to annoy my salesperson too much 2 days after putting down deposit.

Is the tacoma I ordered a unicorn? Should I plan on waiting a while regardless? Super excited to join the taco world.

Not sure how specific dealerships handle the situation you describe above (tier system). Mine doesn’t seem to use anything like that.

My truck actually came in on the exact day my salesman has been telling me it would. Im shocked after reading so many posts of trucks being delayed, waiting for months, etc. About 6 weeks ago I put a deposit on an Army Green TRD Sport 4x4 DCSB and was promised it would be here on the 24th. I was fully expecting today to come and being told one excuse or the other. But the truck actually came in last night and I'm going to pick it up on Saturday.

I'm assuming that group 1 is probably about the size of how many trucks they get each allocation(say 10 people). Same probably goes for group 2. Group 3 is all the overrun. Once someone gets their truck from group 1, someone from group 2 goes into group 1 to get a "better" chance. And then someone from group 3 gets to move to group 2 and so on and so on. I'm planning on calling my salesman around the two week mark to check in/get an idea of what that system is.

I'll call him tomorrow, see if I can get a VIN#. He says they get allocation info every 2 weeks. I have doubts about that. Where in IN are you?

Thank you so much! This is my first truck and I couldn’t be more excited. Long bed due to continued home reno projects and a lack of a desire to pay material delivery fees haha

Congrats! What part of the country are you from? Mine was built 1/28 and I'm in St. Louis with no ETA! Lots of posts about people getting theirs out west that were built after mine. Makes sense since they originate in CA port from MX. Hopefully any day now for me. Love the Army Green on yours!

Why thank you! I’m actually in Maine, mine was tracked in New Mexico at one point and then was loaded onto a truck in Massachusetts before being brought to Maine. Came the same day it switched into “G” status. Your salesperson should have access to tracking updates, mine did!
