As much as I'd love to, I try to stay away from the pew pew threads/forums on the work computers. Appreciate the love though.

Dang, looks like I came just too late for all the juicy stuff! Story of my life.

 

Quick fix: Get a job in the firearms industry and you can look at pews all day!
(but you also have to walk miles upon miles at SHOT and IWA)

I don't so much mind my work knowing what sites I visit; its the whole coworkers walking by and seeing pictures of scary fully automatic 100 round high capacity clip tank penetrating capable killing machine assault rifle weapons of war on my screen every time I'm trying to find a deal on a Henry .22LR lever action.. Some people already think I'm an inbred redneck because I hunt and fish. Can't have them thinking I own guns.

I've never really sold a firearm before...how do you determine the value?

Also, what would be the process for the safest and/or most legitimate private sale?

 

Knowing the buyer, no exceptions. That would be my personal recommendation, but I'm sure you can pay a small fee to meet a stranger at a gun store and have the store run a background check and help with a bill of sale. I'm not entirely sure though, I also like to live by the never sold a firearm rule. What do you have? We could probably help you find a ball park value.

 

Well if its a lever action .22, the value is $4 and i'm safe to sell it to.

With that being said, I've sold many in Georgia. I think I did a bill of sale on the very first one 12 years ago and never have since. In GA, private to private sales are perfectly legal and yours only obligation is to know they are a resident of the state and you are not knowingly selling one to a convicted felon. The site Theoutdoorstrader.com has a seller rating system that will help you know that you are dealing with legit people.
