Did the exact same thing, then it broke.
They have bluetooth versions of that now. Actually I'm going to go order one on Amazon tonight now that I think about it.

Itll be years, but I do believe it will come down. But not to pre 2020 prices. The new normal will still be high. The events in Europe only prolonged the wait.

Id buy if you want something. There are still "deals" to be had, just gotta look.

I got to see Admiral Hopper give a presentation about computers in person when I was a mere youngster. She did a good job of explaining network latency that occurs with a physical distance. Still holds true to this day with the internet.

Agreed. And on the "deals" front, one annoying thing when you're hunting is there are a lot of decent finds on the home delivery sites. Even with their issues it makes 'em tempting when you're looking for specific things. Local deals have been few, but again I haven't been looking earnestly for a bit.

Are you looking at things new enough to buy from CarMax?

I got my daily from CarMax and thought the experience was great. Once I figured out what I wanted it was just a matter of watching the website until a matching car came up.

You sound like you're in a spot to buy what you want and be happy with it even if it's not a "deal". If you're confident in your choice you won't regret spending the money.

Expanding on the CarMax thing a bit more... I think everybody knows that "the price is the price" for a car, but what's even better is that their formula for pricing is consistent. I was looking for a very specific car--year, make, model, options. Every car that met my criteria would be priced the same. The only variables were mileage and transport costs if the car wasn't local. Knowing exactly what the car would cost made it much easier to jump on one as soon as it came up.

Damn, that's a serious setup. Thanks! Im about to buy a new helmet before I start the front links in truck. Might be worth it to pony up on something nice. Been through 2 $250 helmets in 2 years and I should have just used the damn money towards a nice one.

On the flipside of that, my sister got screwed by CarMax. Turns out they like to buy damaged vehicles (not quite salvage) and fix them to resell. They rushed her through the buying process and didnt mention a thing about carfax. Turns out her car was in a front end collision and looked great, but had some damaged AC components behind the grille. Even with the warranty she bought it was like pulling teeth to get them to cover it.

That is so cool! My granddad used to talk about her. In his days of the IBM650 he helped write a programming language called XRAY63 and XTAL so that various other departments at other universities could share information more readily. As he moved on to more scientific avenues after his doctorate he always stayed up to date on the ever growing field of "computer science" and the Admiral was very influential
