Seeing that the new Ranger Raptor is going to have a twin turbo V6 with 392hp and a 430 torque rating stock (imagine what it can put out with some aftermarket goodies) along with permanent 4wd and front and rear lockers, why would you want to purchase a similar priced Pro Tacoma that can’t compete with any of those specs? I know the reliability of a Tacoma will be superior but come on, these trucks aren’t even in the same ball park even though they will be competing against each other. I sure hope the next gen Tacoma is a huge improvement or I don’t see how anyone can justify purchasing a Tacoma Pro over the new Raptor.

I thought it would end up being more expensive maybe not. Also, I've never been in a double cab ranger how does it compare to the tacomas cab size. From the outside it looks smaller.

I like the TRD Pro, but if I was in the market for a 50,000 + midsize hotrod pick up. The Ranger Raptor would be it. Yeah the Tacoma would probably be more reliable, and resale value, and all that other stuff. But why not buy a lower priced Tacoma, and get all of that for less?

All sounds good and all but there’s that “little” problem. IT’S FORD.

Looks like a AM high clearance rear bumper could be installed with out having to cut the bedsides. No idea how that lower plastic is attached. The rear is probably too softly sprung to support the weight from the factory.

Wait till those Turbo's take a dump on you! Heck buy a Hellcat with 807 HP you can really burn the tires off. How many HP for you need to be happy? There is a point HP is not that important we have 278 HP for me that is enough. My Challenger has 310 HP and can do 137 MPH yet still get 30 MPG and 807 HP Hellcat can do over 137 but gets 10-15 MPG but boy can you impress the Girls and Boys frying those tires!! The Crowd will just line up to watch and hope you crash it showing off to! I am so happy with my TACO go for the Ford not me! I have a Little Ranger and it sucks 2 wheel drive and been parked all winter!

I wouldn't be surprised if those rangers get a crazy dealer mark up that makes it easy to choose tacoma still

The most appealing thing about Toyota 4x4 trucks is the large PCD six lug hubs. If Toyota ever gets away from that style of hub. I think it's game over for Toyota 4x4s

I did laugh while typing that, but it's what makes Toyota trucks, Toyota trucks.

That's going to be a tacoma killer. Good looking truck and the tech and interior look great.

If I was in the market for a TRD Pro I'd be giving the Ranger Raptor a long look.
