For gloves I’d second that you’d want something relatively “thin” for the MSF class. Most people that aren’t used to wearing gloves don’t know what it’s like to lose the dexterity with thick gloves and you want to limit your challenges as much as possible. A single layer leather glove with precurved fingers will offer plenty of protection with little dexterity loss. Knuckle protection and palm padding are a plus for when you start riding regularly.

Self professed "gear snob" here but the only gloves I've ever spent that much on are my heated Gerbings.

I took the training class a long, long time ago and honestly for the training course just about any full finger glove that fits your hand and allows for reasonable dexterity will be fine. As others have said you're not actually out in traffic on the street and your speed will be pretty slow compared to the real world. I would probably spend about half of that amount on the gloves and take the other half and add it to my helmet budget.

    Just my .02

Ehhh maybe $50? My motoz I think last about 6K miles? So you're like 30-50% into the life of the tire, plus mounting/balancing costs if you aren't doing it yourself. For how inexpensive tires are I really only consider buying new.

a friend is looking to get a 90% dirt setup, so he wants to offload the motoz tires to me cheap, but doesnt know how much. I was already looking at $250 for the pair of Shinkos that I want

Looks like my new plan is having @fatfurious2 send me a spare pair for the class since he was feeling generous. Helmet is def a priority for fit and safety though. I can't let my mug get any worse!

Thank god I beat the wife home. She would be so disappointed in my decision making today…. Only a few puckering moments on the ride home and mostly just within a block of the house and the driveway.

Quad lock?? How do you like it?? Did you ever run the Rokform? I haven’t had the issues others have with the rokform, but was thinking of switching to the quad lock….

Update: Decided to add a little to the helmet budget from the gloves fund cuz Ive seen what getting your bell rung can do to a person thanks to my EOD buddies . Add in the MSF discount at Cyclegear and this came home with me today.

I love the quad lock. Had Ram X-grip before. The case on the quad lock is so robust. Had to get a mount for my truck too.

Nothing too exciting... maybe a little rust
Just survived a 30 min ride in 35* weather past a couple frozen ponds and even a couple butt puckering moments over patches of snow and ice that haven't melted from last night.

All worth it though because this has now been added to my garage. Don't mind the mess that is my garage...
