I need a different rear leaf pack.
Im running ome dakars, heavy. My ass end sits so high and I have no way to measure how high over stock I am.
    Running 35s and fiberglass.
I carry 0 weight 99% of the time. I will say the few times Ive been loaded down with mulch I drop at most and inch and it rides great.

I feel like I cant enjoy my expensive front suspension when the rear is kicking up every bump I hit.

Im looking for something off the shelf, i got a quote from alcan and they want 1300$. Im sure theyre the best but I can settle for 2nd best.

I feel like Im 4 inches over stock in the rear at this point. I want no more than 3 and a good ride unloaded.

    Help?

A nice spring under setup might pair nicely with your front. Thats the route ill be going eventually

The same shit everyone else has.
Remove a leaf or 2 depending on how many the leaf pack has.

it’s free and it’ll soften up the rear.

I mean I'll buy some new springs if you guys want me to. The dakars look so pitiful.

Take out a leaf as mentioned. But why the heavies if you never carry weight in the first place?

Before pulling leafs or replacing, I would add something heavy in the bed and give the leafs a chance to settle.

    Nice Truck BTW

As you say with really no weight hardly ever, I have a 3” icon lift. Went cheap and went with “blocks”. Ya. Ya. Ya. I know and the I added a AAL, on top of new OEM springs. Had to remove it as it jumped me up over an inch after settling was about 1.5 before settling

I have Dakars (old version) and pulled the 3rd leaf which is similar to the current medium Dakar. Ran them this way for 4 years before adding the leaf back. I was happy with the way they rode, the truck was just getting heavy for that setup. If you have the AAL with the leaf pack definitely remove that.

Clean them up when you pull the leaf and they'll look good as new.

I recently ditched my OME’s for a custom Alcan pack. They’ll taylor it to your needs rather than an off the shelf product.

as suggested before, remove that extra leaf cause it costs nothing - then reevaluate.

Awesome, will try tonight. Will I be losing lift in the amount of the thickness of that leaf? Or should I remove 3rd along with long overload? Im trying to lose lift and soften it.

I had plans for a truck that never happened. Also I wanted a guarenteed 3 inches no matter what. I was more concerned about length than performance.

They are about 3 years old. I used to have a camper and have landscaped my yard a few times so ive definately made them settle over the years. Like I said with a bed full of bags on mulch or rock it drops the rear an inch and rides great. They are good springs for what they are designed for, for sure.

Your initial question was about measurements.

Center of hub, vertical, to the edge of fender is a good reference. Using the hub center takes the wheel/tire size out of the mix.

So measure yours as is and ask here for folks with stock suspensions to give you their measurements.

Removing the 3rd changes the spring rate. I guess I lost about 1/2" to 1" when removing but never measured

Hub to fender won't give him comparison to a stock truck since he had fiberglass fenders.

the 3rd and 4th leaf (from the top main leaf that has eyes on both ends) on your heavy pack should be the same. Pull the 3rd leaf from the top and this nets you a dakar "medium" pack.
