Please Toyota, do NOT put a turbo in the new Tacoma like you did in the Tundra. I want a truck that last a long time and a turbo beats the hell out of an engine.

I'm a bit meh on the Ranger Raptor. I just hope that Toyota's next Tacoma squarely takes on Ranger's payload. Some of the DCSB Rangers have payload north of 2000 lbs vs the current DCSB Tacoma's of what, 1000lbs?

They're going to be forced (pun intended) to do so just like they were on the Tundra. They've got to at least pretend their trying to keep up with the competitors power numbers and they [ahem] have to adhere to big governments MPG fleet requirements.

Edit: apologies for the derp.. it was a placeholder for a text response to someone else that I didn't end up sending. In my browser I have to overtype the response for it to go away. <shrug>

I'd love one as a perfect all-rounder vehicle. Small enough for the city, like the Tacoma, but super sporty and probably relatively comfortable while still having a bed to throw shit into, same as the Tacoma.

    It's basically a factory-built hot rod of a mid-sized pickup and I think that's awesome.

Unfortunately, I refuse to participate in the vehicle market right now and I have a feeling the end of this kind of market isn't going to come anytime soon and the demand for these are going to drive absurd mark ups without taking into account supply chain issues. Also assuming towing capacity won't be more than 5,500 lbs based on soft rear shocks and rear coil springs, which is probably fine for my trailer but definitely a much narrower safety factor than 6,200.

Starting price is supposed to be $52,000 which I'd probably be willing to stretch to swing for that whole package, but knowing my enjoyment of highly equipped vehicles, it sure as shit would not be under $60,000 and at that point it'd be hard to not just go for a full size for comfort and capability.

Also anyone that thinks any vehicle manufacturer is NOT going to be putting turbos on literally everything should really start setting their expectations in reality. There's literally nothing anyone can do to prevent that evolution as it's a stop gap for manufacturers before moving to alternative fuel sources. The writing is all over the wall at this point.

We were thrilled when the dealer FINALLY sold us the little lady's 2D Bronco for MSRP after waiting almost a year. We were mentally prepared for a massive markup (and just as prepared to walk away) but sure enough.. it was the first 2D Bronco we'd ever seen. They could've pulled that BS and sold it the same day to some sucker for $12k over MSRP but for this particular case the dealer didn't pull that BS.

Yes that is true, I don't care about resale with a Toyota I'm not getting rid of it ever. I don't like the inflated value of any vehicle, I rather have insurance total a vehicle in the unfortunate event a claim needs to be filed. That's almost a negative imo. I think the Raptor is a truck of excess imo, as I most likely wouldn't use it to it's full potential.

When the price of a Raptor is comparable to that of a TRD Pro, that changes things as you get more product for your money. That might come at the price of reliability, but I would be buying the Raptor or Pro as a vehicle of excess because of the price including mark ups.

TRD Pro shouldn't be priced above MSRP. I can buy the lowest price Tacoma and still get all of that Toyota reliability.

The Pro offers less reliability at the price of performance, so does the Raptor, but reliability isn't why people buy Raptors.

Yes, but the only available engine will be a five cylinder where every cylinder is actually a turbocharger from surplus 1980s technology and you don't get manual crank windows.

I already asked my mom for permission to buy the Raptor Ranger. First thing I’m doing is a diesel swap.

Undeniable that on paper, it is 'the' deal. The real peak would have the goodies paired with a 6pd mt.
Just like Communism, off paper the truck will likely be another modern Ford move of issues and lacking reliability.
