And this was a US-spec truck; I forget exactly why the owner switched it to RHD...

This is a nice thread. I don’t regret parting with my 93 Isuzu. There’s no looking back. But I do miss it. It was my first car and I had it until a few years ago. It was bad ass truck and fun to drive. I thought about keeping it and slamming it, but I sold it to an older guy here in town.

    Very interesting.
    I can’t say it’s something I’d own.
But I have t9 give the owner credit. He definitely put a lot of work into.
If he likes, I happy for him.

I owned one. Mine was a hard top. It was Ocre (or puke yellow haha) I ended up rattle canning it in two tone. Gray on top and bottom and blue in the middle. It came out pretty nice. The original engine was a 359cc 2 stroke 2 cylinder with an oil injection system. It did not go fast but man did it 4wheel over anything you put in front of it. Wish I still had it but there was a flaw in the engine design that cause the distributors to seize up due to lack of lubricant. Didn’t have time or money to swap in a different engine. It was fun while it lasted though. Pic is not mine…just for reference.

It is nice to see a stock one in decent shape; I love all Japanese minitrucks just because they Japanese minitrucks. My favorite is obviously Toyota, with the 1986-1997 Nissan pickups coming in at a close second, and the 1986-1993 Mazda B-series trucks coming in third; The roughly 1989-1994 Isuzu pickups are neat little trucks, but based on research on them, I can see why you don't regret it...

I don't know anything about the reliability-wise, but compared to Nissan and Toyota trucks of the same period, Isuzu trucks seems to be behind the times; I believe that base model trucks had carbureted 4-cylinders well into the early 1990s, at a time when Toyota and Nissan had long since switched to fuel injection. Everyone I know who owns one loves it, but whenever I go to various shows, other import brands vastly outnumber the Isuzus; There are two Amigos in this thread as well...
