Part of my rationale for getting a manual in college was so I could have this conversation:

Them: "Hey can I borrow your car?"
    Me: "You drive stick?"
    Them: "Uhhhh...."
    Me: "Nope."

Is that the same place as the airplane graveyard from "Can't Buy Me Love"?

Coworker had an old mini. I never sat in it but seeing it in the parking lot... they're even smaller than I expected.

Still in my top 5 of cars to have if I didn't care about money/storage/etc.

I don't think so. Pinal does commercial passenger and cargo planes. The airplane graveyard you are thinking about is here in town tho, at Davis Monthan Airforce base. Huge storage facility for mothballed military planes.

You're correct, it was Davis Monthan.

You can actually do a tour of the graveyard. Pima Air & Space Museum does tours of it. I haven't done it yet but will next time I go to the museum. It's one of the best air and space museums I have ever been to.

I would love to see one of the modern-day tweaker car thieves react to this truck.

Why doesn't the gear shift have an indicator?

I hotwired it but it won't start.

What do you do with those pedals?

What is that button on the dash with a C about?

I'm screwed.. Get out of here.

Friend in high school had an old chevy truck with 3 in the tree and it would through you out if he took a turn to fast, passenger door would open and you'd slide off the bench. Good times.

Ostensibly, my mom can drive a manual.

First time she borrowed the Nissan she did a burnout in front of the house unintentionally.

My mom actually drove my car home for me after purchase because she was better at stick than I was at the time.

I think she learned on her dad's old International-Harvester pickup with a three-on-the-tree.

It's Red wire to Yellow and push the round pedal on floor with right foot while slowly pulling knob C
Throw red meat in bed to keep the alarm from barking and biting you before opening door.

I've driven passed the Mojave one several times, even went into it once many years ago with a friend of mine to take pics. They don't let you wander around though, have to do the limited tour. And a permit to do a photoshoot or film there is $$$$$$

They are, but Pinal is also used for potentially-temporary mothballing. I read that, for a while (the story was from 2015), they were storing some 747s that basically went there straight from the factory after being built for contracts or airlines that fell through. Those planes are kept in flight-ready condition. The story claimed they go so far as to regularly roll the planes a few feet so the tires don't get flat spots.

But my thinking was more... airplanes are cool. Airplane parts are cool. A whole field of airplane parts is really cool. I mean, I have fun going to the you-pick yard. It's a boneyard but also a candy store.

Ok, so elsewhere on this site I’ve seen people suggest airing down for driving on ice. That seems wrong to me, as you’re just adding surface area, spreading out weight, and reducing the effect of what little friction coefficient you have. What say y’all?

It doenst matter. Youre gonna slide on ice with or without 4x4, with or without airing down.

    Your tires studded?

    Easy answer if they are.

I know the Cooper ST Maxx I had were made to accept studs. Though I never used or needed to use them, it was a nice option to have.
