Dude, it's insane how much faster a real 600cc race bike is. The engine is putting out probably double the HP. They rev probably 6k rpm's higher, internal engine parts are made lighter, etc...
I had a Suzuki Bandit 650 when I was 14. I remember when I first got on the GSXR or CBR it was mind boggling. Which is why I'm glad to be off one. Doing 100 like it's nothing is dangerous.

If you ever get a chance ride a 1000 race bike.
I will say I do want to try out one of the monster Duke 1290s. Probably kill me, but it'd be fun.

Same way a 2021 Toyota Corolla and a Formula 1 race car have the same-ish engine volume (1.6-1.8L). All about tune, parts, and revs.

A great example is just the clutch itself. Drop a true race clutch into a standard bike and you’ll immediately know the difference. Nothing, nothing, nothing and here we go! A lot of street bikes have some comfort parts built in and are somewhat forgiving. You can drag a peg and be ok or start to roll on the throttle at a less than ideal time coming out of a corner and live to tell the tale, the full blown race bikes aren’t really fun unless you’re riding them hard but, when you push them, there’s an very thin line between fun and ‘oh shit’. Race bikes are absolutely nuts.

I remember a friend of my dad's that was a test pilot. Had a quote that also applies to racing.

"If there's a envelope box and the X axis is speed, and the Y axis is agility, your goal is to push the upper right corner, and put your stamp on it. Unfortunately, that's also where postage gets cancelled."

I had a '06 yamaha r6 back then and that new generation R6 was absolute nuts. It was a game changer that stuck around for many years and I don't think it's really changed much since. It redlined at like 16k lol and the powerband was strong from 5k to 16k. Pick a line, choose a gear, and the suspension is super predictable and keeps leaning. And that wide powerband was enough to carry through any corner. Just super easy to ride. I was at the ripe age of 19 and somehow survived owning that bike. Then I traded up to the '08 Ducati 848 which was a stylish bike, but it doesn't compare to the raw performance of the R6.

The newer shit with all the electronic farkles is impressive. 200HP liter bikes that can be as docile as a 600 with the push of a button. Antiwheelie, TCS, ABS, electronic suspension, it's bananas how good those bikes are. I still don't see any place for superbikes on the street either way. If anything we needed a tiered licensing system like Europe to keep them out the hands of idiots. (not that it doesn't happen anyway) I commuted for years on some ridiculous race machines. While doing 100mph wheelies is fun I'm glad I made it though that phase of my life mostly intact. :bored:

Here I am in the prairies with no mountains, no indoor park, cold AF weather, and the third snowiest winter ever.

    Ugh. :goingcrazy:

A dual sport needs to be a +1 sooner rather than later. Perfect self shuttle rig with a 2x2 cycles carrier.

I have a 1Up Heavy Duty Double. The shop I work at sells Yakima, Thule, and RockyMounts and I still couldn't justify buying one of those versus buying a 1Up. They truly can't be beat.

totally, I’ve had a few different setups over the years, 1UP is by far the most effective and user friendly
