I tried for over a year to buy a crawl box from you only to be told that you weren't taking any orders. Thankfully NW Fab is building them now and I went with them. I think you might want to check your ego. Look at these complaints for what they are and not write us off as an echo chamber.

Black oxide isn't meant to be used in moist environments (read not outdoors) but is an anti-oxidizing coating.

Man there's some narsissistic personality disorder levels of deflection up in this yearly Marlin posting session.

    Aloha Tacoma world.

I forgot that I even had an existing username here, but anyway, I am currently in the process of building Tac05's truck.

Ill post up a build thread once I get done with the actual build, but if anyone has any specific questions Ill try to answer them.

The RCLT kit is badass, and honestly there's not many super hyped cutting edge offroad products that don't have hiccups or unforeseen production problems. I can think of more than a few big ones that didn't exactly roll out super smooth. Anything worth the hype in this niche industry can be expected to lag in some aspects. Marlin doesn't have a million dollar R&D budget with massive production facilities. The fact that you can even design an IFS to handle 40's, 14" travel, that more-or-less bolts up to stock mounting points is pretty slick. Id say too that the holding the parts in your hands when the first arrive really gives you an impression more so than pictures can do. The spindles and LCA's are some beautiful pieces of metal.

The clearancing required for proper uptravel is not extra work, its required work to build a low COG capable crawler whether SAS or not. The idea of having a capable 'rock crawler' without extensive custom fabrication is near impossible (except some jeeps are close). Any of the guys that have installed this kit without doing that (theres a few I've seen) are totally blowing it.

As it sits in the shop, with a frame height of 21" we have 8 or 9" of front uptravel. That's insane, and 16" of clearance across the front. Anyone who has struggled to hit 22-24 inches with more than 4" of uptavel on an SAS knows this is pretty impressive.

Yea there's a lot of work for install, but not as much as a properly completed SAS. I'm willing to bet the hi speed and highway manners will be unmatched for the abuse it can take. Nobody expects it to 'compete' with 1 ton swapped crawlers on the trail, but it will hang and do much more in other categories. For anyone who wants a truck to be able to crush all around and has the skills or knows a shop that's specialized in building crawlers, its a great new option.

I am looking forward to seeing what level of abuse it can take as more of these are completed. I'm anticipating front diffs exploding with generous skinny pedal but we shall see. :luvya:

YES, dude, Seriously I've been waiting and waiting to see what you think about the ORIs because they avoid having to mess with Limit Straps which means the only welding required is for only our HD Steering which is such a cool approach you took. I am super excited to hear how it pans out. Thomas has already invited me to Maui and my wife and I have been needing an excuse to get back to the Islands so who knows maybe this year we could meet up and go do some lava rock expedition!

    Regards,
    BigMike[/QUOTE]

We still had to run bumps and limit straps. Otherwise the 8" stroke ORI internal 'Limit' allowed the RCV's to bind at full droop. (possible internal modification, but I didnt look into it) and we had to run a bump because I dont trust the top coilover bucket to take a full speed hit from the ORI bottoming out. Maybe it would have been ok but just didnt seem right.

Seriously one my TW favorites. The shit between marlin, YouTubers and the fact that I learned that a majority of the people on this site is a suspension engineer. It's great!!

I read most of this thread, its equally amazing that all these suspension geometry experts have forgotten to use any of the proper terminology while simultaneously picking apart someones link setup. It's like that saying where you're playing chess with a pigeon. The pigeon thinks its winning because its shitting on the board knocking pieces over... Only in this scenario both players are pigeons :bananadance:

Slander I think I remember you from pirate. Is 'silverback' guy still around? I haven't been forum'ing for a while sooo....
