Biggest thing is to try and prepare for your max cost, which is usually the OOP max. How you skin the rest of the cat is mostly noise.

The fact that our health insurance is essentially attached to our employers is insanity anyway. Imagine if home or auto were like that.

My percentages are small but the nominal amount of dollars they represent are...not as small as it could be.

About a 2% day for me...my boy VNQ going for a 2.4% jump was nice. VTI 2.2% no slouch either.

I’d like to think there’s a line between politics and regard for human life on here. I hate political talk too.

I have a friend in Odessa Ukraine named Artur who used to work for my families old bed and breakfast, one of the funniest most stand up kids ever. He is 25 now and I’m sure is fighting for his family and country. We have all tried to reach him but haven’t heard back from him since the invasion.

My mom sent me this the other day and I found it hilarious:

“Artur and his Ukrainian friend Alex wanted to do a “shot” of vodka when they came over to pick up his birthday cake and ice for their coolers and poured literally a 12 ounce glass of vodka for me to drink haha. They said that was a shot in Ukraine!

They were so crazy and fun. The best is when they wanted to go to the wrentham outlets to shop for clothes ( he and his friend Alex) before they went back and artur was little and was so pissed off cause there was nothing there that fit him. “Damn big Americans!”

And four weeks before he was going home he freaked out because he had blown all his money and said his dad was gonna kill him if he came home with no money so he wanted to “work” everyday all day and took a job on a lobster boat that went out all night, then shaws during the day after the b&b. I think he probably came “to work” but actually slept half those days on the couch cause he had worked at the b&b, then shaws, then lobster boat! But we didn’t care.

He posted a story with no sound earlier of walking around deserted odesa with a flash of light in the distance. They want “all able bodied men” to join the armed forces. He loved western culture so I’m sure he will be in the thick of trying to save his country.”

Please don’t ban me cause I’m not saying anything outright political? If so so be it. Just remember there are good people fighting for their lives and their families lives there and I hope that’s ok to talk about.

If he makes it home, please tell him he is a hero. If he doesn’t, make sure his family knows he is.

Will do 100%. Thanks for saying that cause it needs to be done. I could go on about the stories. He was only like 18 then, but man he had a sense of humor. I remember when he found out my dad smoked pot, he approached him all awkwardly, “Mahk, do you have veed?” Which is a running joke in the family now. He is usually pretty responsive so the fact we haven’t heard a word is concerning but I’m not losing hope.

I was balling crying all night last night like a teenage girl, not going to lie. Everything about it sucks and I hate thinking about what might happen. I wish I could help more.

It could simply be that there is no cell service in the area, or they probably don’t allow them to use personal cell phones for security reasons.

hopefully this all gets resolved soon

I have a friend who was an immigrant from 1993. She chose her college degree and that counted as $10,000 worth of personal property the maximum limit for a single individual. She came to the United States got a job worked a lifetime and retired. She grew up in the shadow of the Chernobyl power plant. Crazy shit going on

you see when they left you were allowed a maximum of $10,000 worth of goods so it was either your degree or your personal property. They converted as much as they could into jewelry to wear when they left and hoped they wouldn’t get robbed.

I know I’ve said it before on here but that’s why there are so many “taxi drivers with nuclear physics degrees” from Russia. They didn’t have the cash to leave with their transcripts. So as far as the rest of the world is concerned they have no education.

When I was a kid my dad put the grill away from November to April. That’s why I grill year-round. It was always a thrill to visit my cousin during February vacation because his dad had a garage he kept the grill in. Grilled burgers in February will always remind me of school vacation upload_2022-2-25_23-26-27.jpg

I was gonna make Kielbasa and perogies for dinner, but spied some sea scallops on the way through the store.

Fear not, I will have my sausage and potato dumplings on Sunday
