My Taco had a 12k markup, I bargained the markup down to 5k and made them throw in the Platinum warranty and ceramic coat the entire truck. Made up for the markup hahaha

I actually payed 1750 for my 7yr/100k platinum plan with a $100 deductible. I'm within the 30 day window still and am actually going to attempt to cancel and then will decide when the factory warranty is about due. I just hope the dealership will let me cancel over the phone. It is a 3 hour drive one way for me to this dealership.

Our Tacoma's use some modern refrigerant that is very expensive compared to the old stuff.

The "real" Toyota Platinum VSA is $0.00 deductible. At least both of mine are through Toyota Financial Services. Is yours a non-toyota contract?

Also, canceling the warranty usually must be done in writing as I recall that written in the contract. Check yours because there may be other requirements to make it all legit. If you financed it in the price of your purchase agreement, I believe it pays down your note. You don't get the duckets to spend elsewhere.

No need to go back to the dealer, I just cancelled mine recently. Call Toyota Directly and tell them you want to cancel, give them your VIN. They will give you a fax number (or address for mailing) that you will need to send a written/typed paper and signed saying that you wish to cancel your warranty. Some info that will need to be included is the date you are sending it, name, VIN, and I think something else. Then its a 7-10 business day wait before they process it. AFTER they process it they will send you a check in the mail directly. They tell you it will go to the loan provider and be applied directly to your principle amount but my loan was through Toyota and they still sent me a check in the mail. So from start to finish the process takes about 3 weeks.

OP I was sold the warranty after I told them I don't want it they slid it in for a nice total of 2895. I got it back from Toyota because I plan on keeping this truck until I die or it gets totaled. Ive had 2 new vehicles before this and never used the warranty on either of them. To me its a waste of money but to some people its not. Entirely up to you.

Looks like mine is a "The Mechanic" warranty offered through Assurant. I am hoping this won't be a headache to deal with. The fine print mentions reaching out to the dealer for cancellation so I'm going to start there.

As stated before Jennifer with Wolverine Toyota is the way to go. Much cheaper then what local dealers wanted for the warranty. I have the Toyota Platinum 10 year 125,000 Warranty on my 2020 Tacoma OR. Warranty threads are like oil threads everyone has strong opinions. Just have to do whats best for your personal situation. Only advice I have is watch what kind of warranty the local dealers are selling you. Some Dealers will try to sell you a after market Warranty. You do not want this. The only way to go is with a Toyota Platinum Warranty.

Make your dealer match Jennifer's price or get it from her. At her prices its worth it. New age chips. Timing cover leaks etc

I was able to cancel my aftermarket one today. Well, at least submit the form and there is a 4-6 week turnaround. I'm gonna at least wait until that is applied to my principal until I consider a different warranty.

I emailed Jennifer and Troy. Prices are the same at both places. She asked me not to post the matrix online apparently its against Toyotas policy but you can find it here if you look. The Platinum warranty has a zero deductible, if you have a deductible it isnt that contract.

I think I may pull the trigger as it equates to $200/yr I think that's cheap insurance, gamble or not. I'm willing to take that chance.

Thanks to everyone for the insight and thank you @DTaco18 for the link on page 1.

I called the dealer to ask if they would like to match the price and make something instead of nothing, they said they couldn't. They also tried the usual scare tactics of trying to tell me it wasn't a factory warranty etc etc.

FWIW, this lease buyout has been an absolute shitshow. Toyota Financial has not been great to deal with. I live in one of those states they claim won't let leasing companies sell vehicles in. So they forced me to use the dealer, which was not what I was told when I leased it. At that time I was told I could simply mail a check to TFS with required forms and buy the truck. Dealer charged me $600 to do 10 minutes worth of paperwork. All according to TFS because I live in Maine and Maine won't allow an indirect lender to sell a vehicle. They flat out assured me it was a state policy, not Toyota's policy

I called the state myself, no one there knew what I was talking about. They said it wasn't true.
I called Toyota back, they said nope, it's a law and they wouldn't send me or my bank the required info to buy out the lease. Have to go to dealer and pay the fee they said.

Odd thing about that was 3 weeks prior to starting this buyout, I purchased my 2019 Civic lease from Honda Financial Services and had the title in my hand in 7 days. Never went to the dealer for anything. I asked TFS to explain that to me and they couldn't.

TLDR: Never believe anything that comes out of the salesman's mouth. Ever.

A few, mainly added skids. I like leaving the suspension alone. I drive forest service dirt roafs in the desert west extremely extremely too fast. Toyota nailed this suspension going 65 across desert terrain. Changing it is dumb unless you have a specific need like crawling or mud.
2600 is what he asked.. I said no. Probably dumb but....

I thought the same thing, I emailed Jenifer,

This was her response for that question:
"it's the Toyota backed coverage that is good nationwide, this is her email"

    jtaylor@gowolverinetoyota.com

Ask her any question you have, her customer service is excellent.

Understand you are not paying for a warranty for 7 years/100,000 miles. If you drive 15,000 miles a year, your 5 year/60,000 Toyota drivetrain warranty ends in four years. You are paying for a warranty for up to 40,000 miles in-between 60,000 and 100,000 miles and/or up to year 7. Therefore a 7 year/100,000 extended warranty is effectively a 32 month/40,000 mile warranty (you mile out before 7 years). You need your truck to break down in a big way during a 32 month/40,000 mile span. Most factory defects will have been taken care of during the first couple of years. Major mechanical issues due to wear and age will most likely happen after 100,000 miles. The extended warranty is covering a small time and mileage span where not much will probably happen.

I went with the Geico mechanical breakdown coverage. You have to buy new and be under 15,000 miles when you sign up for it. I pay like maybe $8 every six months. It has a $250 deductible. It can last up to 7years/100,000 miles. If I don't trade mine in, I will mile out well before the 7 years.

Unfortunately the insurance company warrantees are a racket, and will cost you in the long run. Read through the contract as well as the fine print, it’s nothing like an oem warranty from Toyota..

It kinda extends the 3/36 bumper to bumper to whatever years/mileage you picked.
