2nd gen Transmission

I went to the dealer yesterday. I recently went over 100,000 miles. I asked the dealer about changing the Transmission fluid. They told me if I have the sealed Trans with the WS fluid, it never gets changed. Wow! I was suprised. I thought even at 100k it would get changed.

I've already changed mine out once, getting ready to do it again next week. I'm doing the 45k mile service in my shop. ALong with diff fluid and oil, cabin filters, engine air filter. It is a mechanical device that generates heat/friction. Trans fluid is cheap compared to repairing the transmission later on.

 

That is what I thought. But they told me they don't change the fluid in these transmissions.

 

Uh, it gets changed. They're full of crap.

i would go to another dealership.

 

My immediate response to the dealer would be "Then why is there a procedure written in the factory repair manual for the fluid change?"

 

The Toyota recommended service at 100,000 miles does not include the transmission fluid change. It is recommended at 60,000 miles if you are towing.

I am surprised that the dealer was not willing to sell you this service. I probably would have changed it already.

 

they told me the same thing when i did the 15k service. now i am at 23k and i will change it at 30k. but yeah, the dealer refused to do it...

 

bullshits...............they are full of it! 100k........transmission fluid in the ws trannys gets changed. find another dealer!

 

man toyota does not want to do transmission fluid... that's when u know something is up!
