Got the KMDAXPRO Sport tune in November and has been great so far but lately I've been noticing that the truck has been holding higher gears and shifting oddly for me on flat highway stretches more often now. Did a 3km FLAT stretch on the highway and the truck wouldn't get out of 4th gear the entire time with out me letting off the throttle or speeding up further till it decides to go into 5th.

Anyone have any issues like this?

I had the same tune and same thing cruising 75+ or so it wanted to stay at higher RPMS, 3,000+ or so. It was a heck of a windy day or two when it happened, so maybe it was a headwind causing it? I just let it eat cause the tune was new. I ended up reflashing to the normal throttle tune anyway because my wife couldn't quite get the pedal feel down from a standing start. Took a trip the other day and seemed fine now on the same road, same speeds.

This is a chronic issue going back to stock, 2.0, etc.
Happens on most tunes when you downshift at high speed and try to maintain that speed or above. I spent numerous hours and $$ on gas chasing a fix in VF since the beging.
Just use S mode and upshift

Anyone know when the update for variable cruise control will be ready from KDmax? Also, is there anyone in the Hampton Roads, Virginia area tune for $300?

There is no settings in VFTUNER for variable cruise control (adaptive cruise control). As soon as there is, I will adjust it.

I was told by Nitro that my gears will take a YEAR! From November to November. Their estimate was Oct/Nov. I'm pretty salty about it. I don't even think it's worth canceling and looking for somewhere else that can get them faster or has them in stock. So I caved and I'll be tuning here the first week of march. Pretty excited about that and can't wait to see a change. I was thinking "normal" throttle. Still unsure.

Glad to see you getting tuned. If you have a lift and bigger tires already, I would go with the Sport throttle. Best thing to do is test drive first with Sport, and if it’s more throttle than you want, it’s an easy, quick change to Normal throttle.
Either way, you won’t be disappointed!

Got the KDMax Pro tune done by @PapaRee today. Drove 130 miles one way to meet him. First thing, Kreg is a great guy. Super nice, explains what is going on and what the tune does.
Wish we had better weather Kreg, I know you were freezing. Yes, we Louisianians can be a bit sensitive to cold.

    Some key points:

I went with the normal throttle first and test drove with Kreg in the passenger seat. Felt so much better (more responsive to pedal movement). Went to leave a stop light with a cop beside us and back one car length and turned both back wheels over. Now the road was wet from drizzle, but my leg certainly was looking to push the gas pedal a lot further like it did with the factory tune.

Now I had to try the sport throttle. As I was test driving that setting my brain said “Oh, I like this one!” Wasn’t touchy to me and just felt great. More responsive than normal and not too much for me. But then I have my computer mouse sensitivity turned up also; hate the default.

Drove the 130 miles home and loved it. Places where the stock tune dropped from 6th to 5th to 4th, KDMax Pro dropped from 6th to 5th and kept my speed.

Had many areas where I had to slow from 65mph to 55 and then 45 or even 35 (small towns). When accelerating to get back up to 65mph, very little pedal input and the engine responded. Boom, I’m back to 65.

Normal acceleration from a stop and upshifts are smooth and held out longer to take advantage of the engine power. Makes for a much better driving experience.

When slowing down, like for someone turning into a parking lot, and then accelerating back to speed, no more push the pedal and waiting…..waiting….and then downshift multiple gears and take-off; just a smooth acceleration. This one really was a sticking point for my wife and she said the truck is 1000% better now.
She said she would want to drive my truck now! :annoyed: Damn you Kreg!!

For me, this tune is all about drivability on a daily basis and it does just that. My driving experience is much improved!

I will post again after more miles. I am very positive on this tune and I am really glad I got my truck tuned. Thanks for everything Kreg!:bananadance:

Just getting back, and so far I love it! I got the normal throttle, and I'm glad I did. Sport would've probably been too touchy.
Drove back with the laser cruise on, and it didn't do bad, but it still downshifted into 4th more than I like. But next time I'll drive with the regular cruise on and see. Stopped to fill up, and drove the rest of the way home with the cruise off, and I'm already noticing am improvement in gas mileage. I'm hoping that everything improves as I drive it more.
