I only delivered one order today before signing off because it was so slow, and it went to a guy staying in a hotel; I met the guy the outside the hotel room and handed him the order through the driver's window, then I drove away and didn't check my DoorDash ratings unit now...

I would like to think that this was a glitch on DoorDash's part, but I suspect that the prick I delivered the food to did this to get free food. I seriously handed the food out the window of my truck directly to him; It is also possible that he was upset that I asked him to meet me in the lobby. Either way, I handed the food off to him and marked it as a delivered. I am going to be contacting DoorDash tomorrow about this nonsense and setting the record straight.

The order came from a restaurant in Doylestown and went to a hotel in North Wales; It wasn't a fleabag motel by any stretch of the imagination, but something seemed just a little bit weird about the guy I handed the order off to now that I think about it...

On another note, if gas surpasses four bucks a gallon at BJ's, then I am not going to be able to do this anymore unless I sell the truck and buy a Prius; I would be fine with having my truck and a Prius, but I don't went to sell my truck and have just a Prius. The reason I made such a killing in 2021 is because gas wasn't ridiculously expensive for the first half of the year.

I don’t blame you for not being able to continue if fuel prices keep rising.
Where I’m at, when fuel prices go up. Take out orders seem to go down.
But we don’t have DoorDash around here. The next county over has it, but not where I’m at.

I have to admit, I do enjoy seeing how it works. So I’ll miss this thread a little if you stop.
But I think you’ll find another job with no problem.

I'm also signed up with Uber Eats and plan on signing up for GrubHub; Did you read above about how the son of a bitch is claiming I never delivered his food?!?!

My mom reminded me that I have a dashcam, which actually captured the bastard walking up to my truck and taking the food, so he's gonna be in for a nasty surprise when I report him!

I wouldn’t surprise me if he did it intentionally. Just to get it free.

I worked in the restaurant industry the entire time I was in high school. 3.5 years.
The same people would come in and always complain about something to get a discount.
You know good and well they were doing it on purpose, because they would keep coming back.
And they’d even tell you “every time I come her, this happens”.
At some point you’d think they not come back if it happened “every time”? Right?

I am live chatting with Dasher Support right now via text message; It is looking very good, and I am getting an email that will help me dispute the claim. I honestly hope that the son of a bitch gets his account deactivated, or at least get barred from using DoorDash for a while!

Dashcam is gonna save my ass; I'm sending the footage of me delivering the food to the scammer to DoorDash, and it should be cut and dry. The lesson here is "Don't try to scam the Dasher because you don't if he has a dashcam in his vehicle"! :luvya:

I just reviewed the dashcam footage; If that was actually the customer, then he is fuck, fuck, fuckity, fuck-fucked! :D:luvya:

If that was some random guy claiming to be the customer, and the legit customer actually didn't get his food, then I hope he gets reimbursed. If that actually was the customer who I handed the food to, then I hope his account gets deactivated or at least suspended!

You know, I should have thought of that but was tired last night

A friend of a friend (don't talk to either anymore) I've heard stories about him being famous for that, and taking pride in never paying a full bill be it takeout or a nice dinner and drinks. Disgusting..then again he is allowed to get away with it.

There are places that I give a second chance to if they fuck up but if it is a pattern then I refuse to do business with them. The Chinese place that I got a live cockroach in the bag 2 years ago though, I blasted them all over the Internet anyway. A couple of hours after the incident (I was on a work call) I drove by going somewhere else and saw they were still open and serving food, they didn't care. I sat my ass in the parking lot for a while telling anyone who pulled up what happened to me earlier that night.

I know people can get banned from Uber (the ride service) so I presume there's something like that for this

That's a good question actually. How would you as the Dasher know for sure that you were bringing to the correct Dashee?

Usually it's pretty obvious; You deliver the food to a house, townhouse, condo, apartment, etc, that matches the address listed on the app. I have delivered to a few hotels in the past, but I don't like doing it; Most of the time the customer is fine meting me in the lobby or getting the food from the front desk. On maybe two occasions, I've encountered an uppity desk clerk who absolutely will not let me deliver to the customer's hotel room, and one of those was before COVID started! Mostly, however, it's because I'm too damn lazy to deal with a desk clerk who may or may not be a letter-of-the-law dickhead and then go all the way to the umpteenth floor to deliver the food if the clerk isn't a dickhead. Not being vaccinated less than a year into the pandemic, this gave me two perfect excuses to request that the customer meet me in the lobby or get the food from the desk clerk; I have had one person in a hotel go "Karen" on me via text message because I wanted them to meet me in the lobby, but luckily I never saw them in person.

That said, there really is no way of knowing if people in hotels are who they say they are without delivering it to their door; I have NEVER had an issue like this EVER since I started Dashing in July 2019, so I would guess that none of them were scammers. There is a small possibility that the guy who filed a false "Food Not Delivered" report legitimately did not get his food, and that the person seen on my dashcam taking the food through my driver's window was some random guy who saw a very convenient target of opportunity; In this case, I sympathize with them, but I still believe that I am entitled to the roughly eleven dollars I received for driving the food all the way to North Wales! It also goes without saying that I am not deserving of the contract violation on my record; Luckily, DoorDash is siding with me on this one.

Unfortunately, I believe that the only victim here was me, and that the guy who took the order outside the hotel was the customer; I have two theories...

    1. My first theory, and the most likely one, is that he was planning this from the moment he placed the order and I was simply the Dasher who took the order; This would have have happened to any Dasher who accepted it, and it wasn't personal, though I still hope that the bastard either gets his account permanently deactivated or at least temporarily suspended!
    2. The customer is a vindictive son of a bitch who was pissed that I requested he meet me in the lobby and thought he'd get revenge on me; Once again, I say tough shit and hope that DoorDash punishes him for this.
Regardless of which scenario actually occurred, the lesson this guy needs to learn is that this is the 21st century and almost everybody has a dashcam in their vehicle to protect themselves from assholes like him!

It is a bit shocking to me not because I didn't think this could happen; I've read all sorts of stories, mostly on Reddit, about Dashers with similar stories of customers who want to game the system for their own personal gain and don't give a shit what happens to the Dasher or are feeling vindictive about the way they were treated by the Dasher. What surprised me is that this was at a fairly upscale hotel in a decent area; This wasn't Philly or Lower Bucks! I'm assuming that the guy was an out-of-towner since he was staying at this fairly nice hotel in a decent area, and not some homeless guy who likely couldn't afford to stay there. He probably thought he could gain the upper hand since he was from out of town (likely out of state, too), and obviously not staying at a permanent address, but...DASHCAM! :luvya:

I did some Dashing last night, and I still can't believe that in February 2022 with all of the COVID restrictions finally starting to get lifted, this Asian place in Warrington still has one of these stupid pass-thrus and is not letting people all the way in the restaurant...

Picked up a second, quite lucrative order from the Asian place in Warrington...

The Dasher App always tries to take me to the new townhouse development next door; The little blue arrow shows my location and the actual location of this Asian restaurant, and this screenshot is actually from the second order I picked up that night...
