I recently added the TRD skid plate to my 2019 sport model. I thought I would no longer be able to utilize the center front jack point because it is now covered by the skid plate. At 2:40 into this video, the guy uses the center jack point even though he has a TRD skid plate. Is that okay to do?

Also, is it okay to jack the rear using the differential "pumkin" as he does?

    Thanks

If you look on the instructions for the skid plate, it indicates there is a jacking point on it.

It might scratch/dent it but don’t see why it would be bad. I’ve lifted by the pumpkin many times. Just don’t jack on the drain bolt.

Mostly stock with a few minor mods.
Yes to both questions. This is the quickest way to get the truck up on 4 jack stands. Lift the rear using the pumpkin and put 2 stands under the rear axle. Lift at the front and put stands near the front wheels. Reverse to drop it back down again.

Do not lift it by the pumpkin or front point and just start working on stuff without stands. You're asking for major trouble if you do.

Thanks to all. The hockey puck idea is great. I just ordered one on Amazon.

It's ok but not my first choice. You gotta make sure you hit the spot 100%, and its harder to identify that spot with the skid in the way.

I saw that but I always like to check with you presumably younger guys to verify. I'm almost 60. I still remember when the jack went into a little hole on a big chrome bumper.

    I remember 60. :p

Remember the bumper slits too, for the lousy bumper jacks, which worked ok to change a flat, IF you were on a flat-ish hard surface.

One of my first tool purchases after basic handtools was a used 4 ton floor jack and 4 jackstands.

On my Miata I had to drive onto 3" ramps to get it high enough to get a low profile race jack under it. :D

With your wisdom, you’d rather trust some hot shot on the internet than the documentation from the manufacturer??

Look at your skid plate. The jack point is labeled. Don’t worry about scratching it. It’s a skid plate. Scratches will separate you from the posers.

I jack up my truck with my RCI skid plates on no issues plus can still see the jack point from the side.
