@bcmbcmbcm I know you weren't asking me, but I'll give you some info...
Here is a recent price chart from Wolverine Toyota. They sell a ton of the $0Ded Toyota Platinum Warranties to forum members.
I wasn't able to find any better pricing. I actually gave my local dealer the opportunity to come within $250, and they wouldn't do it.
I opted for the 8yr/100k on our Highlander. We drive about 12-15kmi per year, so I know we'll hit 100K before the 8yr mark. No need to pay 30% more for the 10yr/100k when both would expire at 100kmi anyways.
So that would be my recommendation. If your going to buy, make sure to choose one that offers a long period of coverage. The ones towards the top are almost worthless. Figure out how many years you think it would take you to get to 100kmi (or whatever mileage you choose) and then compare the prices in that year range.
    That's my $.02.
    Enjoy.

For my 2018 4Runner Limited, I bought the 10yr/100k from Jennifer, as plan to keep the 4Runner more then 10 years and the 10k miles a year is more then enough. Honestly, it's the first new car that I bought an extended warranty for, and yes debatable if needed?

Anyway, when I bought my 2019 Tacoma, I asked the same dealer about their extended warranty prices, and interesting enough they were only willing to sell up to 7 years at of course full MSRP. I asked if they went longer, and the finance guy told me they didn't. I assume their profit was less for longer than 7 years so they just don't offer them? I did contact Jennifer again, but didn't go through with buying one for my Tacoma.

Thanks. I’m generally a fan of factory LONG warranties provided they are bought at a deep discount from MSRP. Seems though most of us are speculating or making a calculated decision and now that the 3rd gen has some time on it I wanted to see how some have come out on their decisions.

my experience is with long Ford ESP. They were bought similarly from competitive dealers found in forums. I used them once or twice on vehicles I drove a lot, and then I sold the vehicles, and very easily received a pro rated refund.

re the savings account alternative argument- yes that’s a very valid point. The discounted prices available from wolverine make it less so,however, and rising labor rates even more. How much could a timing cover reseal cost in 9 years?

I may drive this Taco a lot and I may not. Who knows. Having a hard time deciding on a term vs.just using Geico MBI which is super cheap.

mainly though I was curious if folks had bought these and were glad they did or bought them and never used them.

I too have thought about the (fast) rise in labor costs, and parts, which could make extended warranties, especially at below MSRP even more attractive. My personal debate with my 4R is well, it is a 4R built in Japan! Sure, I could left the $1360 in savings as that's where it came from, however the percentage of that cost verses the total $45k (with taxes/registration), it was not a big amount for a vehicle I plan to keep longterm.

Also, at the time, a former boss drove a Camry. The power driver's seat went out, and so the dealer said that they had to replace the entire seat. I don't recall the cost on that but it was shockingly high.

(I'll update this thread in 7-1/2 years if I've ever used the 4R's extended warranty?! :D)
