I'm building my own right now and the price on materials is going to exceed 3k slightly. I'm buying higher end deal of things. 3600 for a finished product I think is a reasonable entry price to the market. 4900 as a mark up later might be fine when their established as a quality builder.

 

There's a lot of time, overhead and R&D that goes into bringing a product to market, meaning capital has to flow to employees working on it, materials etc. A higher entry price would be understandable until ROI came in and the company established cheaper trade agreements for materials.

 

I’ve heard high-quality cheap labor is easy to come by these days, too…

 

I like that everyone is all "I COULD BUILD IT FOR THIS LITTLE MONEY" and doesn't factor in their time or paying themselves for that.

 

There's not much investment on r&d when you're just commercializing ripcords DIY how to build your own wedge camper with diagrams and parts lists.

 

Because maintaining website, licensing, space, welding skills/time/materials, bulk material procurement, etc. are all free.

 

What's for sale in here lately? Feelings?

I'm sure you're doing everything you can to be competitive in your market. These topper/tents (or RTTs) aren't my thing and I consider $5k expensive when thinking of the value it would add to my wheeling/camping experience. I'm sure there's people that love them.

Still looking for axles? This guy has an oem and 2 napa axles available for less than $200

 

Always looking for axles haha. Do you know for sure that fj axles will work on a Tacoma? For some reason I had it in my mind that the spline count on the outer is different

 

Well I think I answered my own question because RCV has 1 part listed for both vehicles on their website

 

For all years of the FJ? I know some things changed between the 07-09 FJ and 10+

 

They have it listed as 07-14 fj, 03+ 4Runner and 05+ Tacoma
