Its probably cheaper to install those shelves in the pantry than it is to fill them up with food right now.

    Looks good though.

I have a steel workshop looks like it might have some light mold on the inside, what's a good way to kill it without killing myself?

    Pressure washer?

    Bleach?

Anything to keep it from coming back?

I had a bit on the attic ceiling and did a bunch of research. I ended up using white vinegar in a pump sprayer, wearing N95 mask, a tyvek suit and had the gable fan going. It's been a month and it's like nothing was ever there. I assume it's on wood? Give full strength vinegar a try. You can buy that stuff by the gallon.

Alright I got a pump sprayer I'll try it a white vinegar spray, it's on corrugated steel on the inside, I suspect the extreme temperature swings in Florida and no insulation cause the inside to condensate and give the mold something to grow from but it's a hard surface so should clean off okay.

Probably N95, tyvec, goggles and face shield it up and pressure wash the gunk off the walls then come back and spray it all with vinegar again.

I'm still moving in so nows the time before things get settled in place.

Wondering what I can spray or put up to prevent it again though.

Insulating it isn't an option right now.

Definitely understand house poor. I remember when I bought mine - it was tight for a long time. Nice thing about a mortgage, if you have a fixed rate, is the payment stays the same while theoretically your income increases. Not sure if there's anything you can treat the metal with to prevent mold. Keep air moving with a fan? Depending on how big the area is and access, maybe hit it with vinegar spray once a month?

Bare steel or painted? I’d be careful using vinegar. It’ll etch the metal, especially if it’s bare steel.

If it’s all open I’d use a cleaner and power washer or hose over vinegar.

I agree with Lawfarin, if bare unfinished or galvanized metal, vinegar will etch. But I also wouldn’t use bleach, as mold, mildew, and or fungus will react to it by rooting itself deeper into the pores of the surface and can come back stronger when conditions are right. Borax is cheap and a natural fungicide. It changes the ph of the surface material making it difficult for the spores to survive. Dilute 1 cup to 1 gallon and brush it on or you can spray it (just not as effective) leave it for at least an hour before wiping it down or spraying it off. It should do the job nicely. Painted lots of houses here in the PNW, this was our go to prep before painting. I hear hydrogen peroxide works also but it’s not as cheap. Though I’ve never tried it before. Hope that helps.

Just started a project at my son's house. Updating his kitchen. Just a couple of before and during photos. The builder made the breakfast bar so high that it was unusable with normal height stools. Made no sense. So I'm lowering it to a "normal" or standard height. Also painting the cabinets, installing new quartz counters, and tiling the backsplash. Just lowering that breakfast bar seemed to open up the kitchen to the family room, eating area more than I expected. I'll post up the "after" picks in a week or two. :fingerscrossed:
