My brother in-law works for Fox as an engineer. I’ve been in his ear about what shocks to run because I’m not happy with my 6112. They just seem a bit rigid and the dampening could be better in my opinion.

Rather than push me towards Fox 2.0 he said the TRD pro shocks are legit (I assumed they were a gimmick for sales marketing). Internal bypass and probably a much better ride than the 6112s. He’s also expressed some concerns why I might not want to go the CMC route. My taco has never been stuck or left me hanging while it’s currently leveled and running 265/70.

As much as I have probably overlooked the TRD pro shocks as a legit upgrade, has anyone had a bad experience with them?

If I recall they are twice the price of 2.0's I don't consider them equals. The pro's do drive nicer.

What clip setting is your 6112's on?

Nope. I scored a cheap set of take offs and put them on my OR as a cheap upgrade and they rip/crawl/climb through everything I want. Also greatly improved the ride over the stocker Bilsteins. Love ‘em.

Keep in mind, in most situations, driver skill and line choice > everything else.

Current clip is set on the second ring to get me level. I usually get a little squirrely on BLM land and hunt a lot in the backcountry. I have 5160s rears and they seem to be fine. I have a light load of cargo sometimes but more often than not I have all my gear and a buddy is with me plus his gear. Deer hunting and bird hunting gear but I definitely notice hard hits in the front. Road manners are decent but I’m ready for better performance and response on the trails.

What springs rate did you go with for the 6112’s?

Fox 2.0 and 2.5 are generally rebuildable. (maybe minus the IFP ones)

But are the Fox trd pro shocks rebuildable?

Yes. Pro shocks are rebuildable. They are valved and tuned to the Tacoma already. It depends how you drive but most people at fox seem to say to follow the raptor shock rebuild schedule.

Wow, this is honestly the 1st dissatisfied review I've heard from the Bilsteins.

Nothing wrong with them specially. Quality and build is all great. Just the ride quality isn’t what is like.

I had a pair of falcons on my last taco and felt they were superior ride quality.

Stock - as in, the springs that came on the 6112s. Sorry for the mixup but not the stock from dealer springs.

So 600 pound springs on 6112's? What notch and what kind of added weight? They are a German thing, one size does not fit all.

650 pound springs would be perfect.

Hard top camper...many more to add+
I found the 6112’s set at 6/5 was way better then the stock shocks…. They say 5/4 May ride better…? 2.5 lift, 32 BFGs ….I wish there was a way to compare settings? And see how other shocks rides & handling…
    Other then what people say…?

Adjustable shocks maybe the way to go….. I once had the Rancho air adjustable shocks with 9 settings…while you are driving I could test each setting on the highways & off roading…but the air valves leak so much…I remove the air controls to Manuel on each shocks…

if they ever make a electrical adjustable shocks with as many as 9 settings…and can be adjustable as you drive…on many different roads & terrain…this is the very best of both worlds..

On the rancho’s I found I like the 3 setting for highways, & 7 for off roading..it was so nice to test each settings as you were driving, Manuel adjusts are ok, just that you have to stop , turn the dial, each time
    Aloha
