I am really happy with their performance so far (mud, dirt, snow, & pavement but not much wet pavement).
    Wish they were lighter weight!
I also haven't been in deep sloppy mud with them, but just from the old lug military tire experience, I believe that 235/85 would do better still.

Is yours a 2.7 or 3.5 truck? Tall skinnies sound fun, but I'm reluctant to go larger than stock without a regear.

MeefZah, what is the heaviest thing you have towed with your SR. I added a tow package on mine and just curious what your experience with the 4 cylinder towing has been.

Hmm... With this one I've used the hitch to recover other vehicles. Towed a light utility trailer with bikes. Probably heaviest thing is 50 miles of interstate with a ZT.

My 17 the heaviest was I towed a U-Haul trailer with a BMW GS motorcycle on it for 1000 miles up the west coast and back down.

I bet the ZT and trailer is about 1500 lb (?), and BMW and trailer maybe 1100 lb (?). Both are wild ass guesses.

    I don't win any races. (I don't try either.)
4.88s are sure on my mind, but... not in my wallet yet. So far the truck has always done what I've asked of it.

Probably would fit just fine with stock wheels and have no rubbing. I have -25mm offset, so that really changes the scrub radius. I had rubbing in several places and had to do some massaging of fender liner plastic. Still get rubbing on the drivers side bumper. It's only when I have a passenger in the cab and I'm near full lock in reverse.

I feel that. I've had mine almost two years, and I'm still surprised how much I enjoy the truck despite its limitations.

Here's my 2017 Tacoma SR 2WD. It has the 2.7 with an auto trans. So far I've upgraded the headlights, backup lights & license plate lights, to LED. I have also installed the Meso Customs ultimate map and dome lights. (Bright as hell) All new speakers, and an amp. Subwoofer and another amp coming soon...I have also installed a trailer hitch. Need to upgrade the wheels next. Also have put limo tint all the way around.

Just added new wheels and tires (265/75/16 Falken Wildpeaks on Method 305s) to my 2021 SR and I couldn't be happier with the outcome. I had a great experience going through Custom Offsets. Looking forward to posting more (minor) upgrades, but I'm just going to enjoy the next 7 minutes that it stays clean. Holler if you're interested in my takeoff steelies - only 7k on them. Milwaukee - local pickup only.

Does the sr come with the tow pkg? I’m confused by exactly what you don’t get compared to the Sr5.

    My SR (double cab, short bed, 4x4) came with a tow package. Compared to the SR5 you are missing out on;

    - Chrome back bumper
    - Chrome grille
    - Fog lights
    - 1 inch bigger screen
    - more chrome inside
    - only gray interior vs option of having black
    - alloy wheels (SR only comes with steelies)
    - powered rear window
    - fender flares

Sr No tow package on mine, but did come with heated mirrors. The sr5 comes with fender flares, larger display screen, leather steering wheel cover, convenience package, I think power sliding rear window.

My 2020 Tacoma SR access CAB, with the SX package and V6 Auto, came with the tow package. IMO the SX was the best value money could buy when you could actually get a Tacoma. The running boards, blacked out handles and mirrors and the wheels for $700 bucks? Totally worth it. And its super different/unique compared to EVERY OTHER DOUBLE CAB taco, that EVERYONE buys. Seriously look around ALL YOU WILL SEE IS OFF ROAD or SPORT double cabs. I got the SR (although basic) with the SX package because I have a side landscaping busniess that tows a small enclosed trailer around. Had it for 1.5 years now and it serves me well.

SR with v6 comes with tow package that’s all I know. I have a 21’ SR A/C i4 and all it came with was heated mirrors.:annoyed: Oh and the bed cover that I sold.

SR has three distinctly different packages (Utility, Convenience and SX) while the SR5 also has three (Base, Appearance and Trail). The SR's packages are only found on the ACLB body styles, as the DCSB is exclusively a Convenience Package equivalent. The Base and Appearance SR5 packages can be had on any of the Tacoma's three body styles but the Trail is only DCSB. SR5 is the lowest trim to get DCLB and the highest trim offering the 2TR-FE I4.

SR is only available in ACLB and DCSB. Prior to 2019 (iirc) the only way to get a V6 was by getting a DCSB with 4x4. Since 2019, V6's are available on ACLB Convenience and SX package models in RWD or 4x4. The SR5 offers the I4 in ACLB and DCSB with Base or Appearance Packages as long as you don't want DCSB with 4x4 or any DCLB as those are only V6. Trail SR5's are only V6 of course.

Head Units were always a bit better in the SR5. In 2020 they got significantly better, but even 2016-'19 had more features in the same form factor as the SR's. SR5's now get Power Seats as well, SR still the only trim not to get one.

SR5 is also the lowest trim to offer the Tech Package with back up sensors in the rear bumper.

All V6's come standard with the Tow Package as of the '17 model year, so '16's are the only V6's you'll find without it iirc. This applies to all trim levels of Tacoma, not just SR5.

SR5's get at least two (currently) different interior color options but used to get three (and may still, given parts shortages and regionalization). You could get the Cement Grey/Black, Red/Black or Tan/Black. SR's only interior option is whether you get a back seat or not in ACLB. Previously SR5's got the nicer LCD screen between the gauges that the higher trim levels got, while the SR's made due with an old school TFT screen, but since '18 SR's get the LCD as well.

There's tons more minor minute details and more than a handful of cosmetic differences as well and the two trims have blurred more since the SR's got the SX Package and SR5's got the Trail Package.

EDIT and UPDATE: 2023 SR5's also get the Chrome and SX package, giving the SR5 as many Packages as the entire Tacoma lineup as trim levels. This wont confuse anyone, assuredly.
