What areas do you like where you can drive/camp on the beach and why? I usually go to Port Aransas/Mustang Island, but am feeling like branching out. Wanted to hear y’all’s 2 cents. Pic for interest

I enjoy San Luis Pass. usually very soft sand so keeps a lot of people out.

Haven't made it out that way just yet, but went over the granite jetties on sunday without hitting anything but the factory mud flaps.

Same with San Luis. It used to be way more rough but still some good holes to hit.

My son and I camped at San Louis pass last weekend. A bunch of kids were doing donuts for half the night, then I woke up at 3am to a wrecker pulling someone out about 200’ from my tent. Won’t be going back there again!

Back at it again in Port Aransas today. First beach trip for the Tacoma after the lift. Doesn’t make any difference driving on the sand but I sure feel cool

I'm from the Rio Grande Valley so I've only ever visited South Padre. Never thought about camping other beaches until I ran across this thread. I'll be following this.

I do when I go to CA but here is just to inconsistent and you are almost required to have a log to catch anything. Biggest bummer is other than the 24hr swell windows from hurricanes you are always battling really poor wind conditions. I'm in DFW though so unless its just a perfectly lined up swell its not worth the time.

Got some waves in port A not too long ago. Also hit Waco surf twice now and had a blast! We’re actually doing a San Diego trip in may, and may end up moving out there next year if we like it

I got grouchy with BSR/Waco Surf from when they first opened. Was really excited for $59-79 Advanced sessions. That price just kept creeping up far past my liking. For the price of a 3hour session I can fly to CA and crash on couches for a weekend. Just not worth it to me personally.

I'm originally from San Diego and have family still out there. Great place to live and surf if your tax bracket can support it.

North Padre is my favorite. You can be near everyone, or no one! All the way to the end, about 50 miles is good fishing. Bring lots of ice or a fridge.
