Does anybody have a 'Perkins Performance' bumper for their 05+ Tacoma? I saw one in a 'Toyota 4WD' magazine, came home, and looked it up on internet. They look pretty sweet, but I'd like to hear from others who have any experience with them. I searched on the forum for 'Perkins' and there was very little, if anything, out there.

I'm a skinny dude and my hand does not fit through a fairlead... may just be me but I'm not interested in diving under the bumper to release the clutch.

that would make sense but check out the 3rd and 4th gen pics. There are only the two holes to mount the plate.

Also I would like the stinger to come up higher to follow the lines better and actually proved protection in the worst case scenario.

A little too bulky for the tacoma imo.

The thing I like about this bumper compared to the ARB, Relentless, or others, is that this Perkins bumper has a more lower profile heavy-duty look to it. The fenders aren't cut as sharply and with less holes/venting, and sharp plate metal it doesn't scream 'off-road', but it certainly looks capable.

I'd like to hear about its durability though, if anyone knows anything----and price!
    Thanks

If you don't want something that doesn't scream 'Off Road' then why are you considering an 'Off Road' steel bumper in the first place?
    Just my opinion.

Well, Yellow Dog, I knew someone was going to challenge me with that post.

The reason is that I have a separate vehicle I have to drive for work everyday, so my wife ends up driving my Tacoma quite a bit. She may not 'bless off' on my getting an ARB, but I think this Perkins one is low-pro enough to where it can meet my needs and her 'approval'. We all answer to someone...

Makes sense, I can see why this would be a good choice.
    Good thinking.

I wasn't trying to put it in those words. I meant what is his use for an off road bumper..
    Not trying to be mean.

Another option would be to get any of the other ones out there and have it painted the same color as the truck much like the perkins one, then it won't be as out there.

Didn't mean to bite anyone's head off---sorry. I guess that was my "bumper-envy" coming through. I've been looking at getting one for awhile, but like I said before....gotta get it approved.

One thing I see in that bumper, is no mounting plates to the lower frame crossmember. The other bolts above that arent strong enough to support the load of winching and recovery from my testing. Just something that should get mentioned for anyone that would be winching with this bumper.

That's if you can engage/disengage the clutch to winch in the first place :D
