I think Toyota would sell more Tundras if the also offered a compact truck.

Out of the three light trucks from Ford I like the Ranger the best. I think its the closet thing to a Hilux, available in the US despite not being a Toyota. I don't think the Tacoma is that comparable to a Hilux, beside being a Toyota branded midsize truck. I know the US Ranger isn't the global Ranger, but it's closer to that platform, than the Tacoma is to the Hilux.

I prefer the styling of the Maverick, with the exception of the grill and headlights. Not that the front end looks bad, I don't care for the grill overlaping the headlights, and that isn't a deal breaker.

I forgot add, I'd like to have a fullsize Bronco pickup regular cab 6ft bed. I like the body lines of the Bronco.

I had a coworker who had a first gen 5 lug 2wd, access cab tacoma, it got wrecked and he bought a maverick. Its the same overall size and since he didn't use the tacoma as a truck much he is happy with a larger cab of the maverick.

The car and trailer option are a turn off for lots of people who don't want to learn to drive/backup with a trailer, don't have a place to store one or would rather just rent a uhaul truck instead of a trailer, find it easier to park with a small truck then with a car and trailer.

The Colorado is (was?) a direct Hilux competitor in other markets. It has a lot of Isuzu DNA. If I could afford a diesel Z-71 or ZR2, I'd have one but they are $50-60k trucks in Canada and I'm not all that thrilled with the interior or styling. For $20k I got an immaculate, low kilometre Frontier Pro-4x with the 4.0L and 6MT.

The Frontier was a Hilux competitor as well, the D40 Navara was sold globally for many years. The D41 is just a modernized version for US/Can. It's a shame we never got the 6cyl diesel.

That would be cool, they would sell the hell out of them. Ford should just ditch the Ranger body and go with a Bronco themed one.

There was a new Bronco at work yesterday, they are pretty sharp looking.

Toyota recently said their initial focus going forward will be hybrids vs full electric. Smart move imo.

I had one of these for a time in college lol.
    Datsun.
It ran well though. I remember I had to replace a sleeve bearing in the distributor assembly, it had play in it and would bog down when you accelerated. Took forever to figure that one out. Replaced a bunch of stuff before someone told me to pull the whole thing out of there and see if it had play in it.
I was so poor at the time, I actually made the bearing myself on a lathe at the schools machine shop. Used something called babbit. It's some kind of soft metal. The guy that ran the place told me to use it.
Learn as we go I guess.

I love my 4 cylinder single cab tacoma, no frills as you can get and wish they still made those brand new. I have seen a surprising amount of the hyundai Santa cruz (the weird el camino wannabe one) on the roads here in socal

Oh to Hell with all your Mavricks, Rangers, Ridgeline wanna be trucks. THIS is the future boys and girls. Notice bottom right corner...it's rigged for towing. What I don't know, but it's a dually, should be able to handle 10 bags of mulch. :burnrubber:
I venture to say that 99% of the people out there with hitches on their whatever vehicles don't have a clue how to tow a trailer or boat and certainly don't know ANYTHING about stopping that rig should some dip s*%t pull out in front of them. Had an 86 Toyota 4x4 that was one tough truck (shoulda kept it) but really like the size of my 05 and 22 better. Got a loaner Tundra when warranty work was being done on my 05. Never do I want a Tundra now. Parking spaces seem to have gotten smaller and parking a big long beast is not for me. My 2cents

same here I have an 05 duramax for the heavy lifting and a 99 prerunner. I bought a 3rd gen last year because the 99 is pushing 250k. I have a wore out 85 with a 22re that I can’t sell. My wife would prefer I sell them all but one.

There's a place just a few miles from me with like four late 90s Jimnys on the lot; Selden Motors in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania! All of the vehicles have been legally brought into the country and have Pennsylvania titles!

Yeah, forward control vehicles are fun to drive, it is like being in the first car of a roller coaster…I used to have VW bus for about 8 years.

Another version of the larger Dyna, 4WD, 4 Wheel Steering, and portal axles!
