Removing wax from truck bed

I waxed my car for the first time the other day and it looks awesome! However, i noticed white spots on the composite bed material that is nearest the paint. I believe it is just wax that i was not to careful with. anybody have this happen and know the best way to remove it?

simple green with a toothbrush, then Maguire's Back To Black (or is it Mothers?) with a toothbrush. And next time just tape it down with some painter's tape.

Cheap way -> peanut butter

Better way is meguiar's M39 followed my M40.

Always tape first before waxing. I don't care how neat one might think they are, some always gets on the trim. Get the green marine tape or frog tape. That blue stuff keys wax under the edge. I have been a backyard detailer for 20
years now. H

Curious why peanut butter would work. Also what do you mean blue tape "keys" wax. What does that mean?

It is the vegetable oil in the peanut butter that removes the wax. You could use straight veggie oil but it is kinda messy. Work that PB in good on the spot. Let sit for a few, work again. Wipe off and use a simple green or castrol purple power diluted 1:10 (add some more chemical if you feel that ratio is too light) and spray that right on there and work it in. Rinse clean. Should be no more wax leave-overs. The longer you wait, the hard it is. The above should be done with a towel or something protecting the freshly laid wax onm your paint or else you will to re-wax that spot. The cleaner will take it off.

As for the blue tape, I meant to say keeps. I have fat fingers and the iTouch's keyboard doesn't like me lol. It will work, but there will more 'clean-up' after the tape is removed. Marine tape or Frog Tape gives a nicer edge in both painting and detailing IMO. If you are serious about detailing, get a buffer. Save the arm and you get your shine on in no time.

I wouldn't put armour-all anywhere near my truck. No offense but that stuff stinks. Petro based products are no bueno for trim/tires/dash

Don't get me wrong, I would only use pb as a last resort. I always keep some stuff around to clean and I pre-tape. But in a pinch it does work. No doubt about that.

 

Ditto the green Frog tape being better than the blue tape. I've never used either for truck detailing (never thought about it, but it makes sense!) but I've used both for house projects/painting. The green is head and shoulders better than the blue.

one of the threads stated that 303 protectant works well...has anyone else tried this and is able to confirm it? I have 303 on hand...but would have to make a trip to wallyworld to get the others...

303 ia good stuff. No doubt. If you have it, use it up. I think Adam's Super VRT II is by far the best for all tire/tire applications. UV protectant and waterproof. Great stuff. Check it out after you run out of 303.

It will cover it up. Once it wears off the white will be there and harder to get off. I like the m39/m40 combo myself. Or Adams all-purpose cleaner/Adams vrt. Just keep in mind these are application-specific products. A good all-purpose cleaner and some elbow grease can take if off if you get it right away. The more you wait to clean it the more you get to needing something designed to take it off.
