Just because the truck is down doesn't mean the long travel progress will! Lots of progress this weekend on the rear axle.

All new seals, bearings, retainers, o-rings, and abs tone ring. New diff is in as well and we've got the new brakes on as well.

All dry fitted and ready for test fitting in the truck whenever that will be. :notsure:

Had to make a new bearing press tool since the Sequoia axle has a different bolt pattern compared to the Tacoma. 1/2" plate and 1/4" square tube is so overkill.

Also glad I decided to rebuild the axles. These bearings were totally shot.

Why a sequoia axle and not a tundra axle? Or are they the same? I honestly don't know, curious for my knowledge

Sequoia axle because rear disc brakes. The Tundra rear axle is more similar to the Tacoma axle, just wider.

Anytime man! This whole LT rabbit hole has been a crazy learning curve. Can't wait to see how the truck rips after this is all done!

Nah engine’s easy - it’s the other stuff that you begin to realize would be so much easier now…

Yeah, and I hate that you're right. Plan is I am throwing everything in with the truck down. Might as well since it's going to be easier with no engine in the way.

One thing I want to do when I replace my engine is replace the motor Mount perch things.
My driver side one is broken. I used a ratchet strap from the engine hook to the frame for now. It’s been working for awhile now.

I'm planning to beef up the motor mounts and possibly get a set of poly motor mounts.

So you can buy @Bonzen 's solid (poly) motor mounts (Solid Offroad on IG) or any other style (TG "Bombproof" etc.). That only reinforces the removable engine side motor mount, but the perch typically will also be a point of failure. That's where it can be boxed in or replaced altogether - DMZ makes a beefy replacement. I chose to box in the bottom with 1/8" and will bend a diamond shaped scab plate to go from the bottom of the frame to my boxed in gusset to further reinforce it and am adding some 3/16" angle iron to the reinforce the ears - that's what I showed here:

That's basically what I'm planning on doing. Solid Offroad are the mounts I've been eyeing.

That's what I've been reading. Local Toyota dealership has them instock, but at $1100 a piece. I'm going to talk to the guys at Main Machine tomorrow and see if they'd recommend just swapping the 1 out, or swapping both out.
