I am just a tick shy of 150K. Literally.

Checked the oil on the dipstick. It looks really clean actually. Of course given the SUPER limited amount of resources I have at the moment it's really hard to say whether or not that's going to be a smoking gun indicator.

I really need my tools to be able to eliminate the blower out of the equation right now man. :annoyed:

Oh I do have two different code readers so I should add, no codes. Fuel trims were within 6.2% +- and no pending codes, so that is always a good sign. Everything appeared within normal values as far as the engine goes.

If you are thinking its coming from the supercharger. Take the belt off the SC pulley and rotate that pulley by hand. That should tell you something about the SC internals.

How many miles on the blower?

Sounds almost exactly how mine did, right before it didn’t make any more sounds. I never did a tear down on the engine so I can’t tell you what went.

Geez man... Yeah this is a horrid situation.

Anyone got a link for new piston sets/ connecting rods/ cams? Looks like I may have to join the forged club if I get screwed and it does wind up being the internals. I'm thinking a rebuild would be better than a full engine swap over.

Hang on. I think I might have found what happened... Maybe... Though the damage at the crank pulley is a little perplexing. I'm going to take some of it apart tomorrow, at least the blower belt.

Brian crower or lc engineering would be a good start but would be a good idea to blue print and that'll take time. So I would recommend a swap for to get you by or buy a cheap POS car or a scooter.

I'll take the scooter for $500 Alex.

That's what I'm thinking, the one right next to the crank.

It must have seized up SO hard that it took the crank pulley with it too. Which really pisses me off because now I gotta pull off the crank pulley and go back to OE unless I can get one from either NST or a member who never installed it and will sell it to me on here.

If I remember right I think I found that style pulley ready to sell as a boxed part some time ago online that was easily obtainable. If I stick with the OE crank pulley I'll easily be able to fix this with $40-$50 and be back on the road and walk away from it all with a bloody lip but not out. Thank the lawd.

    Holy :censored:

I really wonder wtf happened.. you would think the bearing would have made some noise before giving up the beans like that.. Also yeah those pulleys from toyota are not cheap. All of them were in the $200-300 range when I called my dealer, so yeah they are super proud of them. That is an absolute bummer on the crank pulley.. I wonder if NST could help you out.

Also it looks like the rpm belt held up rather well for how much damage is on those pulleys, I wonder if a normal belt would have snapped first.

A normal belt would have indeed snapped first but I also am pretty sure I killed the truck before it got worse, as I noticed that the sound was beginning to accelerate faster and faster and starting to match the rhythm of the RPM, so I threw it in neutral to be able to roll my way to where I needed to safely to be out of the way of traffic.

Yeah those idlers (especially that lower one) is either made by Dayco or Gates. I can't remember for the life of me what it looks like off the truck though so I can't match it off a 5 rib pulley that they make on the net, but it is easily obtainable out of Toyota for sure.

I looked on NST's site and it turns out they do still sell them for sure. $148 so at worst I would walk away with a $200 fix it bill, perhaps just a bit more in case the RPM belt did not fare out on the ribs themselves, which is not too bad considering how much worse it could had been.

Looks like you are gonna be swapping bearings! I was surprised how smoked mine were at only like 45k miles ish on the supercharger. But I guess some people only get 10k out of them so maybe it’s not so bad afterall.

That’s good news that NST is still selling them. They must have made extras after the group buy. If/when you find that lower pulley be sure to share the part number on here. It would be nice if we could find off the shelf replacements for all of the supercharger’s pulley system just in case.

I also should add that if anyone has a photo of the lower idler pulley next to the crank pulley off the truck and would like to shoot it my way, that would be tremendously helpful as it would expedite my search and help me come up with a local off the shelf solution for the pulley in question.

The key idea here is to be able to come up with off the shelf/ easily obtainable part replacements for everything out supercharger has. That way we are not fully reliant on Toyota in the event they decide to pull something funny on us.

Good to hear you’re engine is sound! These idler bearings definitely need to be repacked with grease say every 30k. Especially that lowest one next to the SC overdrive pulley. That one definitely runs dry of grease the quickest of all of them. I got ceramic bearings years ago specifically for that idler.

I can definitely see that they need servicing or replacement every 30K which is wild! Perhaps they are a bit undersized and that's why they fling all the grease out because they are just spinning too fast. If they were larger I'm sure they wouldn't be as much of an issue.

Do you have a link for that ceramic bearing? I may need to switch that one out myself because this incident tonight was not cool at all and had me worried for a while because of where I was and my lack of accessibility to everything.
