Weekend Upgrade - Pioneer AVH-P3200BT

Well I could not take having a single din without bells and whistles so I spent most of my work week researching double din headunits. My research, price point and lists of wants brought me to the Pioneer AVH-P3200BT. I was really worried about installing the microphone for the bluetooth and also wiring in a relay for the parking brake bypass but all I have to say is YouTube is amazing.

The microphone ended up being mounted in the spare switch panel to the left of the radio and the relay bypass was VERY simple to install. Overall the entire process was simple.

I think everything looks and works great. I am awaiting the NAV add-on as well as the rear mounted camera (which should arrive next week sometime).

For a purchase price of $290.00 shipped I am completely satisfied.

 

Looks good. I added a 4200 and I agree, the relay was super easy. I watched soundman's tutorial. I put my bluetooth mic at the top of the piller where it ends at the headliner.

 

I'm curious how good your mic will do there. I ran mine up the left pillar, across the top of the windshiled under the liner and down to stick onto the plastic piece that covers the wires for the rearview mirror. Everyone says I sound great since I can speak directly towards it.

 

I was concerned about the same issue due to the microphone having slots in the side for voice pick up but when I watched a few install videos of pro car audio companies doing the same thing I went with it. Immediately after getting everything dialed in I started making test calls... Perfectly fine

Did you try it out at highway speed? I originally installed mine right in front of the speedometer and it sounded great, until I started making calls at highway speed and it apparently sounded like crap, since everyone kept asking me to repeat what i said and saying they couldn't hear me very well. It is now relocated where the driver's a-pillar meets the headliner (which is where I thought it would pick up the most road noise) and it sounds much better....with no more complaints.

 

Yes indeed, 75+ on the interstate and no issues. I am not sure if its the location but so far it has been perfect. Everyone was puzzled about why I kept asking, "how does this sound".

I didn't see your picture at first but after seeing it and sitting in my truck that does seem like a good spot for the mic.

Keep in mind those mikes are very directional, so wherever you mount it, make sure it is pointing at your mouth as best as possible.
