This is a bad case of just because you can do it doesn’t mean you should, IMHO.

That looks a lot more likely to be at Sand Hollow than JV.

Full disclosure, I’m super biased here because I grew up driving the trails out there before the reservoir was even an idea, and it used to be an amazing place to just go explore. But since the state park made the area a designated OHV area, I’m honestly not sure it’s kosher to just aim your monster douche buggy at a thing and send it. Maybe it is. And if so, I’ll still think this is unnecessary and super douchey, but I’ll also recognize that I’m in the minority. My take is a solid fuck that guy.

That's why I posted it. I really hard a hard as hell time trying to figure out "why" and "how" (as in how is it legal).

That's the off road etiquette I was telling someone about in another thread the other day.

    It’s a tough call, man.

I absolutely DO NOT want to see legal trails and areas shut down, and I want to see new trails created legally as well to expand the trail system and help spread out the massive influx of new users. All trail closures do is further concentrate all of the legal users into smaller and smaller areas which only beats the fuck out of those areas further.

Where I struggle (as an ‘off-roader’ and an MTB rider) is with the pirate trails and the people who create them. I get the whole libertarian thing of public land ‘belonging to all of us’, but cutting new trails, creating more impact by making new bypasses, the whole ‘when in doubt, throttle out’ philosophy of getting your rig through an obstacle that it probably shouldn’t be attempting, and everything else just puts the whole existing legal framework at risk.

But whatever. I’m old, salty, and thoroughly over selfish fucks doing selfish shit even if it fits into a narrowly legal framework. Consideration for others and the spaces we all share seems to be a rapidly diminishing quantity in our new ‘look at me’ and IG/TikTok oriented society, and it fucking blows.

Eh, I butchered that first sentence as soon as I came back to it.

But yeah you're reiterating what I was getting at; social media has become such a huge part of our lives that it drives these idiots to go places where they shouldn't, all so they can have a new video to post.

Remember that Tacomabeast dude? What a fucking POS.

Yeah, I vaguely remember him. Wasn’t he carving his stupid fucking hashtag into stuff?

I guess I just can’t put myself into a way of thinking where I honestly think that sort of shit is ok.

That's just it, a lot of us here can't.

A lot of us here posting have either backpacked (I used to do it often), or at the very least been camping enough to know proper etiquette.

Leave it cleaner than how you left it, etc. Hell, you should've seen how useful Jaxon's gimpcage was for packing up all that garbage.

Anyway, all we can do is hope those newbies join and ask questions, so we can better educate them on the "what's right and what's wrong" otherwise it'll only get worse.

I'd hate to know that a few years from now, trails that I used to venture on are now closed due to vandalism or worse.

Kudos to you guys for doing that. Seriously.

I grew up hunting and backpacking with my pops and doing some solo trips here and there and I think it definitely informed who I am as a person who enjoys the outdoors. I’m certainly not a radical environmentalist, but I do wish more people in general would treat the outdoors like the finite resource it is and not like it’s just another thing they can exploit for their own personal enjoyment.

What do y’all think are the most crucial places in a Tacoma frame, that can almost assure you that the frame is no good.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
Rebuilt the Sway-a-Way coilovers yesterday, honestly pretty fun work all things considered. Messy if your shocks are way overdue but I think Dan got the worst of the exploding coilover mess by accident. Basically sprayed him with smelly grey oil when the Schrader valve let loose.

Coilovers are good to go with 200psi Nitrogen again though which is cool
