I have the nine, and it sounds like I am underwater.

Do you have the external mic plugged in or are you only using the one that is built into the face of the unit?

I have tried the face mic and the Tombit adapter. As the face mic is only marginally better, I don’t think it is the fault of the adapter. I may try to desolder the internal at some point as a last-ditch effort. I have not been able to access any mic slider settings like on other Android units.

That’s actually been my biggest gripe, the way that Joying locks their stuff down and does it differently than some others.

OK so the USB sound card I tried did not work at all. Might of just been the sound card missing software, its a logitech one that came with my headphones. I have a nice tube driver sound card in my office. Might grab it next time I go up to the office.

So I finally got my stereo to where I pretty much want it. I did remove the Joying and put my stock HU back in due to the carplay issues. I am happy how it sounds now but I'm sure I'll still tweak it here and there. I installed the LC7i under my seat and the ACM 1.300 and 4.300 behind the driver side storage cubby. The 1.300 is powering a kicker CompRT 8" sub in a custom box I built. I still have the slight hiss with no audio, I played with the gains on the LC7i and the amps and was able to reduce it but it's still there. I'm not sure if there is any hope for that, I even tried to ground the headunit direct to battery as well as ground the amps direct to battery with no change.

I have the 9" and my wife says it sounds like I'm really far away from the mic. So yeah my mic is hot garbage too. After reading in this thread that others experienced the same with an external mic has swayed me to not move forward with a external. May try updating software, but I doubt that will fix anything.

I rarely take calls while driving anyways. CarPlay talk to text seems to pick me up just fine though, which is what I found strange.

After some experimentation, I have discovered the culprit is CarPlay. Android Auto works fine, wired, but neither wired nor wireless CarPlay give good mic quality.

Any idea why the 2020 model has 3 white plugs and the joying only have 2? Is one not used? Or xm tuner or something?

I don’t have the joying, but have Pioneer 6600 with the maestro unit, and it only uses the same 2 plugs and not the third, always wondered what the 3rd plug does as well.

I stumbled across this looking for something else. Someone else asked how to get rid of the white button on the screen. Here’s the steps:

Open main menu to select all available options:
    046535E9-0A9F-440C-8751-F107B8AE116A.jpg

Swipe over to the last page, and push “Touch-Assistant”.
    1AE4CC54-FE6A-4365-A494-801C336B2BEC.jpg

Now you see a few options, first one is “Display Button”, I unchecked that. Boom it’s gone!

    Enjoy the button free screen!

It is in one of those setting menus as well. Somewhere in this thread someone did post instructions on which menu to get in to. Took me a while to find it but of course I cannot remember how I did it. Just know it is a menu option

I figured it out theres a setting on factory ( reverse volume and reverse track) you would toggle those on or off to correct and reverse the buttons to the correct state

I had this issue with CarPlay, I ended up fixing it by restarting my phone after an update.
