    Sounds like fun!

What are you replacing it with?

    This- Factor 55 FlatLink E Expert https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01C5J0QU2?_encoding=UTF8

I had ordered the flat link expert before the standard flat link but canceled the order. It just showed up anyways last week (and was charged for it). I actually like the expert better and am outside of the return window for the standard flat link.

The whole thing is weird because I placed and canceled the order in early December....

That is weird. I wonder why it took so long to arrive.

I was curious if there was a new product to compete with the flat link.

When I eventually install a winch I have my eye on their ultrahook, but this looks like a sweet option too. Factor55 makes excellent stuff.

Yes they do, really can't go wrong with any of their stuff.

I looked at the ultra hook also but for the extra $ I didn't see a huge benefit other then being able to hook faster. Still have to use some kind of shacke to interface with a strap. If it was large enough to fit two strap ends in the throat, then yes because of the ability to reduce 1 link in the system. But maybe I'm missing some other use case.

It's been a heckin long time since I last posted. Have to focus on school and full time work. No time for taco stuff. But now that spring is coming. Time to get back into it!

I'm still not sure what the function of these is. It seems like you still need a shackle to hook them to anything. Am I missing something?

It gives you two options, a hook and a closed loop. Theory is that if you needed a winch fast, a hook is preferred; if you have more time, then closed loop.

    Looks like the aftermath.

Because there should never be bacon leftover.

Ahh, I see. It seems like my Sidewinder would work with a hook as well. The only thing I don't like about the Sidewinder is that it weighs about 80 lbs.
