Basically our current setup from magnuson uses a set of pulleys/bearings that are pressed together. They are a single row of bearings which is fine for most cases. One way to greatly improve lifetime of the bearings as well as being able to handle additional stress is to use a double roller setup. Basically instead of just one row of bearings you would have two to help distribute the load across them. Superchargers online was said to have made a set of double roller bearings for the magnuson supercharger on our truck, but I do not know of a single person who has actually been able to purchase the kit.

Switching gears, I finally am replacing my bad upstream o2 sensors, which has been annoying but I already got the driverside done.
Does anyone have any insight on what may have caused this pink discoloration of my sensor? I haven’t confirmed if the passenger side is the same yet but I will once I get it out.

Also I want to thank Toyota/Denso for pre applying anti-seize and making sure it doesn’t get anywhere it shouldn’t be..

real talk, no judgement. This exact issue has been my concern with an aftermarket tensioner with several times the tension as stock. We’ve got a single stud(marginal diameter) that is responsible for both the engine serpentine belt tension, along with the supercharger belt tension. I think that aftermarket tensioners are liabilities. Yes the stock Magnuson tensioners had failures with a specific batch, that can’t be over looked. However, that failure is less risky than the failure you’re experiencing.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the pulleys. The issue is the the stud and tension being loaded significantly higher than stock. Can a stud and pulley upgrade be beneficial? Yes maybe, but I think the issue can be completely mitigated by not overdoing it on the tension.
    Just my 2 cents.

Not S/C related but curious if anyone that has serviced u joints and carrier bearing ever seen the intermediate installed without the security nut and washer? I’m confident it was never serviced I bought the truck new but pulled apart today and bam not but or washer.

going to order but curl is if this was normal for some years randomly. I’m thinking big miss from factory

This is a valid point. It really is.

You've given something more to think about now.

Has anyone seen this pink discoloration on o2 sensors before? Or does anyone know what it means? Hard to say if that is normal or if it’s indicating a problem, I have tried searching around bug haven’t found anything useful yet..

Well our coolant is pink. Only thing I can think is something is leaking coolant and it’s burning it

I never did upgrade my tensioner. I figured if it isn’t from a bad batch and I don’t over do it in terms of abuse or smaller pulleys, I’d be just fine. Again for as little as I know. I do understand this and it makes perfect sense to me

From what I have read coolant usually makes it look more patchy, and I ended up having to use google instead of my normal search engine to find that the pink on o2 sensors is… *drumroll* additives in the fuel, so nothing to worry about. I was kind of hoping that the pink stuff meant something was wrong and that’s why my sensor was going bad, but I guess I just got unlucky this time around as I’ve never had to change an o2 sensor in any other Toyota before.

Sourcing a harder grade stud shouldn't be too difficult.

Another topic, (without taking away from Robert’s important issue) Have you heard of the 4th gen Tacoma being released in most likely late 23 as a 2024 model. It should look like a mini Tundra. It probably will be a tad wider and longer then the 3rd gen which is as big or a tad bigger then our 2nd gens. That so far is awesome! Most importantly, the power plant. 2.4 V4 with a turbo. The motor currently in the Lexus NX. Lastly, a 10 spd. trans…….thoughts?

You got any sources for a stud of equal length and harder grade bud? I would measure mine, but half of it is in the block now. Lol.

Yea I wouldn’t mind a turboed 4 banger in a Tacoma. It would feel better than the 3.5 in my opinion

I wonder if superchargers online could measure it for you before they send it out. If the issue is the stronger tensioner then I think you are right we are going to need to source a stronger stud, either thtough arp or somewhere similar.
I am curious if the others who have snapped that stud were also running stronger tensioners?

Also Roberto I should have that pulley you need, somewhere in storage if you need it to get back up and running. Not sure what state the bearing is in though.

If you can find one, awesome. It would be more ideal to run than the 2.8" pulley that I was able to source locally that is a Dayco. I think I'm going to pick it up anyway but it would be awesome to have the original on hand. If you can find it, excellent!

As for running stronger tensioners, yeah we'll definitely need stronger studs for sure. At least the lower, but preferably both. If someone can get the length of both of them then we can find the most ideal replacement for them and put this whole fiasco to rest moving forward for anyone running the stronger tensioners.

If I get a brand new Toyota truck, it's gonna be electric. Supposed to have full electric lineup in 2024 also
