Exactly this. I did the same for my 2019 Tacoma.

Used FD-Warranty to purchase a Toyota Platinum Zero Deductible Warranty on the used 2020 I recently acquired based on a recommendation I found on TacomaWorld. Troy was very easy to work with and the prices were pretty much exactly what has been posted here. Vehicle has to be less than 3 years old (from date placed in service)/under 36,000 miles.

And it's your money. If having a warranty makes you feel more comfortable, then get one.

I'll save you some money and sell you a private aftermarket warranty. The way it will work is you send me $500 cash. Every time something breaks, you call me and I will tell you that it is excluded from your warranty or that your deductible is more than the cost of the repair. We both win.

I keep getting calls from extended auto warranty companies like protect, car shield, endurance, and others. Last time i asked them if they cover wear items like wipers, brakes, and exhaust..they don't.....then i say to them what good are you. You then get all their bs answers.

I think most electronic failures are a result of people messing with them. Tapping into fuse boxes, adding accessories etc. If just left alone all stock, I'll bet the failure rate is minuscule. When people do have failures and have things done to the system, they remove them before going in and claiming warranty. I have no hard data on this of course... just my gut feal.

I self insure and have saved a nice little pile of cash over the years.

The last (and only) extended warranty I purchased on a new car was in 1988; it didn't pay off before the car accumulated more miles than the warranty would cover. Since then I've simply taken the money any such extended warranty would have cost and stuck it in a "Car Maintenance" account, which, after 10 more cars new cars was just over $25,000 deposited. Against that fund I've drawn $3,000 for a rebuilt transmission (which wouldn't have been covered anyway as the mileage on the vehicle was well beyond what was covered), two water pumps, three fuel pumps, a starter, and a power window regulator. The good news is, even with the money needed for what would have been covered repairs, there is still over $20,000 in the account.

Long story short, buying an extended warranty *may* pay off for any one car, but over a lifetime of vehicle ownership, buying such warranties will virtually never pay off. Said another way, when asked about an extended warranty, just say no.

I got the Toyota Platinum bumper to bumper 5 years 125k $1600

I never buy warranties but we use Toyota for fleet vehicles. The sienna and the RAV4

A few have had navigation radio and instrument cluster issues and were very expensive. So I figured 1 repair and it pays for itself.

Things are getting expensive to repair especially now with the 7-8% inflation

A lot of the aftermarket ones are not very good.

Only a few really take care of you properly in my experience

this one is supposed to be really good from mechanics I know at various shops https://www.mpp.com/
