What is the best place to sell a Tacoma?
Is Carvana safe? Any bad reviews . My wife thinks they will give us a fake check. So I need to get pass her. 2019 with 5500 miles on it. So it sits up on the drive way. Thinking of just getting a clunker.

Try every place you can think of, online, even in person at dealers. Sell it to the highest offer

Give you a fake check? Sounds like irrational fear. I would trust Carvana over a individuals (check).

"best place" and "safest place" are mutually exclusive.

Carvana is more safe than a dealer trade. They stick behind whatever it is they are offering, no hidden gotchas, and definitely no bogus checks.

Private sale almost always gets you the best price, if you can handle the hoops of a private transaction.

    Oh look, another mod....
Your wife thinks Carvana a Billion dollar, publicly traded company will give you a fake check? I think it's time to sell the wife and keep the Tacoma. You'll be happier in the long run. The Tacoma will perform better too! :) (less maintenance too)

My best friend recently bought a vehicle from Carvana and had an excellent experience. I’ve never dealt with the company but from everything I’ve seen and heard, they’re trustworthy.

Get a quote from CarMax as well. I sold my JKU Rubicon to them and it was a simple, straightforward process. I believe you can put your VIN into CarMax online and answer a few questions and get a quote that you can print and they will honor for 7 days as long as you haven't materially misrepresented anything about your vehicle. Worth checking.

Carvana may be kicked out of the state of Florida for shady business practices. Steve Lehto covered them on his YouTube channel.

Carvana/Vroom are very safe bets. I've only heard of one person getting less than originally agreed upon (they will give you a check when they pick up the truck and then they will inspect it and reduce the original offer if there is undisclosed damage) but his vehicle was wrecked and repaired without his knowledge from a previous owner that Carvana found.

Like stated already, go to a dealer and see what they offer as a cash price after you get an online offer from Carvana. I did this when I bought my Tacoma and the dealer matched the Carvana price on my trade.

It's a seller's problem if they don't file the change of title when you sell and someone is running around doing whatever with a VIN that's registered to you. Would be a pain to have to have to explain that it wasn't your truck that was just used in an armed robbery.

I used Tred. Worked well for me. Cost me about $340. But I was selling to out of state buyer and did not want any problems. I did have to wait a few days for my check which was deposited directly into my account.

I sold my old Tacoma on Carvana 4 months ago. Easy as can be...gave me a check right when they picked it up. I would do it again in a heart beat. I did have title in hand...i believe that made things a bit easier.

Find the biggest auto broker in your area and have them list it for you, that should be free. They'll collect bids from their clients and you can accept/refuse the best one.

I did this when selling my 2016 Impreza and I got $3.5k over the dealer trade-in on my Tacoma deal. I went to the bank across the street and deposited the check when it was still warm from the broker's printer.

I sold one of my cars to Driveway. They paid off my loan, sent me an equity wire, and picked the car up. Easy peasy.
My offers were best to worst...
    1) Driveway
    2) Carvana
    3) Vroom
    4) Shift (in SF)
    5) Local dealer

    6) Carmax

Thank you for the Monday morning laugh, was literally thinking this reading the post...the stock, which went over $350 dollars a share is going to mail a fake check out and get away with it..

Try them all. Carmax offered me the most, Carvana the least. YMMV

I've sold and bought with Carvana as well as sold a lease to Vroom. Wouldn't hesitate to do either again. It feels sketchy because every other vehicle transaction in the universe is a massive fucking headache and their process is as easy as it can get. The money is real and that's all that matters. As others have stated, try Carmax as well and give it to whoever offers the most.
