2016 taco has a drive train issue. Truck has never been abused. I've had to replace the blower motor twice due to condensation backed up in the drain line. This truck has killed me with mechanical problems. I used to love tacos because of their reliability over time. My brother had a 1982 that gave no problems for 300k miles. I'm thinking of trading for a Ford Ranger. Buyer beware, Toyota isn't what it used to be.

You also happened to buy the first model year of a new generation of Tacoma.

Sorry, but your complaints are partially irrelevant. To elaborate...your 2016 Taco undoubtedly has problems, but does not represent 2017-2022 models that have worked out the kinks (mostly).

Welcome to the forum :hattip: unfortunate that your arrival is coordinated with your unhappiness with your truck.

You state "This truck has killed me with mechanical problems."

Could you please provide us with an itemized list in order of occurrence of your issues, mileage the issue occurred, the corrective action taken, and who preformed and paid for said action?

Looking forward to this information, thanks.

Vehicles require maintenance and (gasp!) sometimes repairs. Sometimes multiple times when problems are not addressed correctly the first time. Is your ‘drivetrain issue’ possibly related to Zerk fittings which haven’t been serviced in the past five years? Vague rants about random issues are welcomed here, but are generally reserved for Friday’s :)

Or feel free to take advantage of the high resale value these trucks have, mainly based on their popularity and reliability and get something else. Trust me, we won’t miss you

The post says drivetrain issues so I popped in to help .
His blower motor crapped out twice and nothing said about his drivetrain ? Golly

Gonna suggest he goes to Toyota with his Vin number and at very least get all the technical service bulletins available for his truck

Truck is 6 years old and all he had to do is replace a blower motor ?
Jimmy joins Tacoma World 6 years after owning his truck and now he pointing at a Ford ? Gotta watch those Ford salesmen  They work in mysterious ways
    Something smells fishy

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
    Another unsubstantiated bitch post.
Easily outweighed by the thousands of Taco owners with no gripes who have no reason to post.
Be a bit more specific about your "drive train issues' and mechanical problems will ya!
Sometimes ya just got to fix (or maintain) what the manufacturer didn't get quite right (the condensate line).

2016 was a hybrid. It was powered by the blower motor in the city.

No doubt there's plenty of good 2016's! My only intent was to advise OP that one first-year generational truck doesn't represent an entire auto maker or model's quality, with issues that were mostly corrected on subsequent model years.

Apparently the new Tundra isn't leaping off the line too well either, having a few powertrain issues.
    That's all.
