Hey Everyone, new here and currently waiting on my ‘22 DCSB OR in Army Green. My temp VIN has a build week of 08 (which I believe was last week) but I haven’t had any update yet. I’m curious how close everyone’s truck was built to the week shown in your temporary VIN? Thank you in advance!

My build date was in line with the temp vin. My dealer knew the day I lit was supposed to be built and called me with the permanent vin the day after it was built.

I did the same, talked with about 10 dealerships in 5 states around AR. Ultimately, only a dealership in MO and my local dealership here in LR offered MSRP and to work with me to find a truck. I met some nice salespeople from other states but they all but told me upfront it wasn't worth the trouble to work with me since I was out-of-state. In the end, my local dealership worked the hardest and got me the allocation I wanted.

I am week 7 and my temp VIN just disappeared yesterday, so I think my truck was built Saturday. The factory is probably a week behind, by my guess with some models. my truck is a DCLB so maybe they only make those every other week.

I check Toyota's online inventory for my zip code way too frequently and I'm seeing the TRD Pro inventory constantly changing. Yesterday there were 4 Pros, 2 MT and 2 AT. Today it's 1 MT and 1 AT. A few weeks back there were different colors as well. So the online inventory is changing often enough that I don't believe MT's are only being built every few months.

I put my deposit down for a MT almost a month ago and my sales guy actually called me 3 weeks afterwards to let me know a customer had backed out of a black Pro MT and if I was interested. Figured if I was paying MSRP I'm getting the color I want and thanked him. Good to know I'm on some imaginary list somewhere.

That sounds like some kind of legal requirement for the financing.

That's what I thought and I asked since I'm not financing and buddy told me they need it regardless. Reading through some of the older posts on this thread some people mentioned that there's certain things the financing department has to go through regardless of whether or not you're financing so I'm assuming its just that, caught me off guard though.

Just watch that they don’t run your credit without your approval. Even though you are not financing through them. Believe me F&I creep’s like to do underhanded things when you don’t fall for their tricks.

Interesting - In normal times, they would probably keep working with you instead of denying you due to distance, but keep trying to get you to work with their financing or burying increases in the line items to make that margin if you disclosed that you were paying cash or were going elsewhere for financing.

Just read an article that toyota shutting down all its domestic production due to cyber attack. Will this disrupt distribution of trucks as well?

This says just the Japanese factories. It was a supplier from my understanding of this that had made remarks about pulling out of Russia because of recent events in the Ukraine.

I wouldn’t think so. I’m not 100% sure. But I think the Mexico plant only makes the Tacoma, and only for the US/Canadian market.
4Runner, Corolla Hatch and some Lexus models come to the US from Japan.

I just placed a deposit for an OR, and the example vehicle that I was given included the "Advanced Tech Package ($1,700)." I was told by the internet sales guy that I had to purchase the "Advanced Tech Package" for an extra $1,700 which comes with MTM, rear parking sonar and some other bloat tech that I do not care about, in order to get the "TRD Premium Off Road Package ($5,100)."

All I want is the moonroof basically, but I'm willing to get leather seats and the supposedly unimpressive JBL to get my moonroof. Internet sales guy said that nowadays with the situation these two bundles come like this. This is not how the brochure has these packages laid out. They are separate.

I'm trying to figure out how I put 270k miles on my first gen, not once backing into shit and running into things without all this glorious (blurry) camera and sonar action that is so safe and necessary now.

It's hard to get a truck allocated right now without at least a little fluff. Mine is DCLB TRD OR with the LED and TECH packages, but has over 1K in accessories tacked on. I was able to change up the accessories some to better match what I was looking for, thankfully. (minus protection, minus floor mats, plus TRD exhaust).

I was in your boat with the MTM/ Advanced tech, until I saw I could just get an anytime front camera kit for $220 and do it myself. I didn't really care about the side cameras, just wanted a front camera. The sonar isn't necessary when you have visuals. Like you said, the JBL isn't really that impressive and I don't care about leather/moonroof enough to want to pay 3k extra for all that. I'm probably just going to go the Clazzio route and get some seat covers.

Yeah, I'm hoping to be able to not have to get stuff I don't want, on the other hand, this is the worst time to buy for the customer.

I wish I didn't care so much about the moonroof, bc then I could get some leather seat covers like you mentioned. (Looks like they are $600, is that per seat or the set for the two front seats and the back bench?) Then I could forego all the tech packages, except maybe the mandatory one that I think is mandated by state laws - I think for $800, don't quote me on that...
With the moonroof, I don't even care about having it open - I just want natural light coming in from above. I just did skylights in my house and love it, and want it in the truck now too.... But it's going to cost almost $7k including all the other stuff I either don't want or am luke warm on. Obviously I could get better audio cheaper aftermarket as well.

I wanted the same thing, moonroof and got the premium with leather because of it. Which comes with color matched mirror and bumpers. I also got the tech package although I wanted the advanced tech. I found mine outside my state and settled because of price and demand. Only thing missing is the Trail cam which I plan to add the front camera anyways and I don't need the 360 view cameras honestly.
