Empty dealership lots.

Took my truck in for service a few months ago, sales manager comes up to me and asked if I would like to sell my truck. I looked at the empty lot and asked do you have anything for me to buy? My local dealer only has used trucks and the dealership located in Plano Texas next to Toyota Corporate office is the same way.

 

Same in Grapevine.

 

Same in Hurst.

They had one Rav4 on the lot, one used Taco, maybe one new SR5. Went shopping the week of the big ice storm, sales guy was still confident that the RAV was going to move for 8k above sticker. He was probably right. There were lines of people at every dealership we visited, 25 degrees or no.

 

Man that’s a gorgeous truck. I would have bought a used truck but I could only afford a new one.

Crazy times we’re in, that that’s a statement you can make.

 

We investigated the RAV4 Prime about a year ago. We were told ‘good luck’ by the sales guy and then he offered to show us 1 of 2 base model Ravs and a highlander.

 

Hahahaha wow that sounds sooo odd.

It’s like that for the state of Texas. It isn’t just Toyota. Try getting a Kia Telluride.

I’m really glad I bought my Tacoma 12/1/2020 from Freeman Toyota in Hurst, Texas. The GM was super easy to work with.

Today would be just as easy except you’d be placing and order and waiting. I doubt he’d give me a discount right now.

 

I’m gonna wait until blurting out $50k to the next dealership monkey who pesters me about selling my truck isn’t too far fetched lol maybe in a few months.

Until then I’m going to bide my time, tent my fingers and wait…

 

Thats where I bought mine in 2018. They really like to pad the sticker there, but they're nice folks that are normally easy to negotiate with.

I really did not want to be car shopping this year, but the fiance's shitbox was not worth fixing. Hiley Mazda seemed to have the best deal for us.

We must all be neighbors, because it's the same in the Arlington area. I had a salesman try to buy my truck when it was in for Toyota Care maintenance. They didn't have anything new on the lot to sell me. All they had were 2+yr old trucks with 50k miles or more and they were asking MORE for them than I paid for my truck new. My truck has more options as the ones they had on sale too.

 

There was no padding of the sticker for any of the vehicles I’ve purchased from them. They were all orders. My 2021 was well below MSRP. I hope the car business changes soon.

Arlington resident here as well, quick OT question, do you take your truck to Vandergriff for service? I need to get my new taco looked at before I hit 50K in the next 1000 miles. Not sure if they're the best in the area for dealer service.

 

Yes, I have been taking it to Vandergriff Toyota since the day I bought it. I didn't buy the truck from them, but they're my closest dealership. They have a great service department staff; and....they stock the waiting area with about 19 different types of muffins. Plus coffee & bottled water. If you go, I recommend the blueberry.

They have done all of my Toyota Care servicing, and handled one warranty issue for me. It was the wireless charging pad. They replaced it in under 2hrs.

This is from the dealership where I bought my truck last year. Now granted, only 4 of these are in stock and the rest are listed as in transit, but still....66??!!

 

Gotta be a typo. They mean 6.6 trucks. That's for all of Pinellas, Pasco, Hillsborough, Brevard & Hernando Counties!
