Pretty !! Really once you know what your looking at to me all the processes just need a little adjustment between them.

I love Tig welding but the prep work takes forever !

That's fair. If you need to take the bed off for other stuff midaswell weld the towers on when it's off. It will make things easier, it's just not worth all the hassle to ONLY do shock towers.

Out of curiosity what did accutune recommend that changed your mind on the shock relocation?

Well basically today they started selling the Fox Performance Elite series which are full aluminum body 2.5 shocks. Better corrosion resistance which is great for me up here in Rustville. Based on my weight/configuration they said doing 2.0 mid travel rears are not going to last as long between rebuilds even on the street and might have sway issues (their opinion but makes some sense). They suggested I stick with stock shock location and do the 10” travel 2.5 shocks since it’s my DD and mostly on the road.

It’s the smart move and they are right mostly. Wish I could do 2.5 mid travels but I don’t want to start screwing with spacers/backspace/cutting/rubbing for now. Maybe in the future, figure I’ll run the 10” for now until either they need rebuild or I start wheeling harder and they hold me back which I don’t expect any time soon unless my other plans in life to move out west change first.

I’ve always built my own adjustable feet for things but these weld-nuts really speed up the process. Can’t find them in bulk for less yet though. Kind of spendy.

    Somewhere around $1500.

I actually thought about posting all the expenses and the list of parts and demensions. I've had requests, so I think I'll list everything once I'm done.

I've got an hour of touch up tomorrow. I'll do it after that.

    Me too!

I need to have a good, smudge free copy for myself!

It's about time a had one posted to the 'net.

Prices won't remain valid, but the parts won't change.

Welders are like a Tacoma - if it is kept in good condition there is always a market for it. When you outgrow your first welder there will be another guy starting out just like you were looking for one.

Please tag me when you do so!

It'll be my first project once the house is built, and a utility trailer will be a godsend.

That’s why I’m running the Archive trail series 2.0” relocation kit. Without spacers it clears my 285s on 4.30" backspace -10mm offset ray 10s with room to spare.

Most of my wheeling is slow and tight, I'm not much of a high speed desert guy so I don’t really need the extra cooling capacity of 2.5” shocks. I still got way more droop with the 12” smooth bodies. Now I can clear obstacles with both tires on the ground and the rear diff open that I used to lift a tire on and have to use the locker.

That was my exact plan and I have the same SCS -10mm offset wheels, but Accutune basically talked me out of it. I'm going to sleep on it because I can't decide yet. Tired of thinking on it for today. I'll PM you later to pick your brain if I go the MT route.

Back to talk about angry pixies melting heavy metal. Sorry I brought so much suspension chatter to your welding thread lol.

Well, that kind of info is better shared publicly really.

Plus, not every welder runs at the same heat and/or travel speed so settings are only guidelines. Sometimes ability isn't up to par with needed travel speeds and so one would run a tad colder, or with less wire speed.

I can understand wanting to build your own trailer but I am lucky there always seems to be one close to what i want for just about scrap price .

New Tires Fix or install new lights maybe some gussets to improve strength and fresh paint .

My one friend and I bought and refurbished Horse Trailers as well as fixed them up for owners back in the day .

    Very well stated!!!

Input voltage variations !! just from location or time of day.

The very Popular 100' extension cord on 120VAC machines

The plus or minus 10% and still be in factory specs

Nevermind machine set ups, how do you remove paint from tight places? Like under the motor mount for the gusset kit install. I did what I could with a small wire brush but still didn’t weld worth a crap. My welder (Millermatic 220?) doesn’t like paint.
