So my Carrier Bearing sh!t the bed yesterday. FML!!!

So I leave from work yesterday and I keep hearing this squealing when I come to a stop. Im thinking its the Brake shield rubbing on the rotors because I just installed some Camburg spindles and had to beat on the shields a little to keep from rubbing. So I jack up the front end and take off the rotors and inspect the shields again. With a little more hammer manipulation I put everything back together. Then take it for a test drive.
Much to my surprise that did not fix the issue. So my next thought was to check underneath and look at the driveline. And sure as shit the Carrier bearing is Fukd!! So I take it to the Stealership (Kearny Mesa Toyota) down the street from my house. My awesome Service Adviser (he truly is awesome) dives right into trying get me set up. So here comes kick in the nuts #2. He cant do any of the warranty work because of where I bought the truck. The Service Manager where I purchased the truck(Escondido Toyota) from has to "release" the vehicle to KM Toyota. So I drive up to Escondido (30 miles) for them to inspect and then tell me they cant help. So I talked to the Service Manager to get him to "release" the truck to KM Toyota and drive back down to San Diego (4 hours later).
I stop back into KM Toyota and talk to my service adviser. Tell him he has the green light. Within ten Minutes of BSing. He has a whole new drive line and carrier bearing on order. Has a Rental car reserved for me for when the parts show up I can drop the truck off and drive away with the rental. The parts should be here by Tuesday.

Sorry for the long post but Its been a shitty day. But at least some good came out of it.

 

Dam so what exactly happened to the driveshaft?

 

Sucked at the beginning , but has a good ending .

Nothing happened to the driveshaft that we know of. He is going to replace it as a whole unit just to be safe.

 

Seems like you have an awesome Service Manager .

 

What's this release stuff? You still under 60k? Just looking for clarification.

 

Mine was doing the same thing last week. When I got under there and looked, the bushing was bent and was rubbing. I bent the bracket back flat and all was well. I guess I hit something.

I hit 68k while I was heading up to Escondido Toyota. The "release" stuff has to do with the extended warranty that I purchased when I bought the truck. According to the fine print. If I am within 40 miles of where the warranty was purchased(Escondido Toyota) I must use that facility. Since the Service Manager at the Escondido location "released" the truck to me thus authorizing Kearny Mesa Toyota to do the warranty work.

Nope. The Escondido Shop brought it up but then I quickly threw it back at them cause they have like 8 lifted trucks that are brand new on the show floor. WWWAAAYYYY overpriced too!!!!!
